The Rake, London Bridge

One of the best selections of Belgian and US beers in London. But...4.50 for a 355ml bottle of Sam Adams? Absolute disgrace. Its a relatively mainstream beer and there were other US beers priced considerably cheaperdespite being both stronger and more obscure ie. Flying Dog Pale and Sierra Nevada Torpedo.

Even the staff were surprised. The only explanation given was that Sam Adams is one of their best selling beers so they mark it up. Not good enough. Againcracking selection but being charged in excess of 7 for a pint of Sam Adams is not on.

The Cittie of Yorke, Holborn

Undoubtedly a beautiful pub stunning architecture. Sam Smiths pubs are usually quite strict about shutting up shop dead on closing time. This place is ridiculous though, at 11.20 on a Friday night, staff were walking around the front bar with smug grins on their faces and literally snatching drinks out of customer's hands!

I have never seen behaviour like this in a pub before. I appreciate that staff quite rightly want to get home after a long shift but there are ways of going about these things.

The Clarendon Arms, Kenilworth

My mistake. My memory of this place is that it is more very food orientated (good food though) - always felt like you were in the way if you were just in for a pint.
