The Watermill Inn, Ings

Saw the pub advertised on back of CAMRA booklet and quite desperate to find a pub with really good grub in the area, we decided to give it a go,,hubby was attracted by the promise of good real ale and i was attracted to the Old Rosie, rarely found unfortunately. We were greeted by a very friendly young barman, and taking our drinks, we sat down to peruse the extensive menu. The pub was quite busy and we anticipated a lengthy wait for our food, so we savoured our drinks (hubby was delighted with his 'Colly Wobbles'). The food was served a lot quicker than we expected, it was very good, I even forgive them for the cardinal sin of using frozen chips!
The young serving staff were extremely polite and attentive and we treated ourselves to another drink. Hubby was a happy bunny when I treated him to a gift pack of bottled beers. The rating would have been 10/10 if the chips had been hand-cut, otherwise highly recommended!

The Royal Oak, Bowness on Windermere

We arrived in Bowness and decided to look for some decent pub grub. This pub had lots of customers, inside and out and looked like a good bet. We were served by a friendly young lady, who was extremely busy, but was very smiley and professional. We decided to have our meals indoors, as the heat was overpowering hubby.
It is a very family-friendly pub, with lots of toys and games provided to keep little ones busy, however, it could do with a refurb in places, some of the decor was rather tired and scruffy.
Our meals arrived promptly, hubby was delighted with his Mixed Grill, however, the quiche I had ordered was nothing short of disgusting. Perhaps I had just picked the wrong item from the menu that particular day, but we did not return.

Grey Wall Inn, Windermere

Lovely, friendly young guys behind the bar, couldn't do enough for us. Great selection of beers for hubby and a real treat for me..proper, cloudy Scrumpy! We visited a few times during our week in Windermere. The Sunday lunch was excellent and the Monday 'Steak Night'offer was great value for money, both our steaks were cooked exactly to our liking, the only drawback for me was a purely personal whinge...frozen chips! If they had been hand-cut, i would have awarded 10/10!
A very family-friendly pub too, with a good choice on the children's menu.
Highly recommended, only pub worth visiting in Windermere as far as we are concerned!
