The Chequers Inn, Aylesford

Have visited this pub a couple of times now as have recently moved to the area.Its lovely looking from the outside and has a very nice rear patio area to the back over looking the river. Have'nt tried the food yet as both times it was'nt available.The standout fact for me was the unfriendly service I received from the landlord,he was'nt out and out rude as such,but just 'yes' 'no' answers when trying to make conversation (it was'nt busy). To me a great pub has staff who make you feel like your welcome,not that your an inconvenience.

The Grove, Ealing

Being from Bromley in kent this is'nt exactly my local,but a rock band I follow (4 Wheel Drive) were having a gig at this gaff for the first time so I checked out the reviews here first.
I was pleasantly supprised when I arrived to find not a whiff of the smell previous reviews mention.There was also plentiful barstaff and I was served promptly,as a cider drinker I cant comment on what the ales like,but the stongbow was perfectly acceptable.
Loved the size of the place and the seperate area for live bands was very proffesional.A nice touch was as a smoker I was able to stand out front in the heated smoking area and still hear and catch the band through the many screens around the bar area that were showing the stage area.Had one of the pizza's they do even though I'd eaten a spag bol before I'd come out and it was very nice.All in all I would love to pick this pub up and drop it in my area as we're a bit short of quality live music venues.
