The Duke's Head, Highgate

Just popped in as it looked like it had been refurbished - and it has! Today, it still smells of paint. New manager (she's ex-prince of wales) explained what's going on. Good range of beers and more to be added. Some local brews and lots of specialised. Both kegs and casks. Beers, stouts and lagers (and a couple of ciders). Very clean and modern inside - but sympathetic. I'll go back in a few weeks to see if and how the 'new' has worn off.

The Postgate Inn, Egton Bridge

Stopped by - by accident - over the August Bank holiday. I can see why it is in The Times Top 10 country inns with food. Good atmosphere, friendly bar staff and the beer was good too!

The Bull, Highgate

Went there on Tuesday.. quiet, but that was OK. Their own local brew - brewed in house - due to be on tap from Sept 6. Currently using Redemption Brewery in Tottenham - nice pint too. Good range of draught and bottled - though check the prices as some are a high (Torpedo @ �6/pt). Love the building and really hope it works for them. Pulled Pork as a main was v. tasty. Their biggest challenge is over the road...
