The Gainsborough, Lockleaze

Decor and fascilities a bit basic but this fits in well with its location. Management and bar staff very friendly and welcoming. Large garden to the rear. Serves a good range of beers and lager and also boasts a rather good pint of blackthorn. often holds charity events for the benefit of the local comunity. Will be using this pub again.

Gloucester Arms, Horfield

All of the barstaff appear to be students trying to top up their burseries and therefore dont seem to have their hearts in the job. Didn't get a particularly warm welcome and the assistant manager was positively rude. Smoking and non smoking areas inside the pub and a large garden at the side which unfortunately no longer contains any play things to occupy the children. John Barras, who own this pub, advertise themselves as being the 'heart of the community'. I'd do better trying to find a new community!
