Blue Bowl, West Harptree

This pub has been one of our favourite haunts over the last 5 years and friends and I loyally went there en masse to enjoy superb food, wine and atmosphere.
On the back of this, my partner and I decided to stay there 2 weekends ago and have dinner in the evening.
It was not a good experience.
Here is a list of things which spoilt our evening :
*First, a wine glasses still had lipstick marks on it and we had to get it changed.
*We were not offered a choice of wine and the bottle was opened before we had opted for the other one !!
The starters were ok, but the mains were appalling. My partner had some small piece of white fish, covered in, what we identified as Ragu sauce - and pitiful, tasteless vegetables. In addition, I was given a garlic baguette which had blatently come out of a supermarket bag and freezer.
We had a quiet word with the waitress who assured me it was home made (erm, no - I think not) and to top it off, my partner was very poorly in the night and appeared to be related to what he had eaten.
The accommodation was fine, but the breakfast was below average.
So, I wasn't very happy at forking out 133 pounds for a pretty miserable evening.
They have let us down - and we won't be going back. neither will our friends. I don't know what has changed, but it hasn't changed for the better I'm sorry to say.
