The Red Lion, Thames Ditton

I can't say I had a warm welcome at the red lion, nor would I recommend it unless you enjoy being hassled for doing nothing more than keeping to yourself.

The landlord took a dislike to me when I declined to buy a drink - I was with friends who were buying, and had explained that I was driving, which I thought was reasonable. Nevertheless, he demanded I buy something, and poured me a sparkling water which I had to pay for.

A little annoyed, I decided to keep quiet, and sat browsing the net on my phone while my friends talked with the landlord. He then got on my case for not participating in the conversation and being absorbed in my phone. I told him I wasn't enjoying being hassled. He asked me if I had a problem with him, and I truthfully answered that I did.

At this point he said "well, you can leave then." I didn't need any more encouragement and walked out. I think his actions speak for themselves.
