St Margarets Tavern, St Margarets

I will refrain from calling strongarm any names...It's always amusing when employees of the pub start defending the pub by attacking the punters....no-one else would be quite so rude. The pub is in serious trouble with a rapid decline in customer numbers and higher prices showing ignorance from a management perspective in running a successful pub. At the time I had limited time, I had bought a drink and I was eating a small meal (discreetly and out of sight all be it a manager was collecting glasses) and I had previous experience of eating there and the food being rancid as well as cold and significantly delayed (further than the 30 minute lunch break I had).

If the food was served more quickly and was actually more edible then I would have ordered - my point about quality is further emphasised by Lambchops who is obviously not an employee.

Poor pub and shame on you for defending yourself by attacking punters.

I am really disappointed in this pub - I went in tonight and being a bit preoccupied I forgot to take my change from the bar maid - she made no attempt at coming after me due to the pub being busy (i'm guessing). I only realised when I counted the money in my pocket and realised I was short. I knew exactly how much I had when I walked in. Being skint having 7.00 stolen from you by an unscrupulous barmaid is no fun. I asked about it and they insisted they gave it back...I know for sure she didn't.

I threatened to not come back and the other barmaid said "that's the door, walk through it". I found the attitude of the bar staff appalling despite the views being tremendous. I was very upset at my experience - it is clear to me that the pub cares more about the quantity of people served rather than the quality of service.

I would strongly recommend against going in there - The Marlborough further down the road however is a brilliant pub with reasonable prices.

I have been into this pub over a number of weeks and the food and service has been exceptionally slow and poor. I came in for a swift pint this lunchtime having bought some food at the local Tesco. Despite having bought the drink I was confronted by an obnoxious bar tender who was rude and confrontational about me eating my pasta discreetly in the corner. There was hardly anyone in and I would have thought they would be glad of the service. Having now looked at the other reviews I know why there is hardly anyone in. If there had of been more people drinking in the pub I would have not been noticed. "I was told that I could eat food elsewhere" despite the fact I had an alcoholic beverage which had to be drunk on the premises as per licensing regulations.

I would strongly recommend against bothering with this pub if you are considering it based on the generally slow service and rudeness of staff.
