The White Horse, Parsons Green

Due to the deck and location (overlooking Parsons Green) this pub can get rammed if you're coming at the wrong time of day. Still, that's not often put me off...

The White Horse was my local for the 10 odd years living in that area and I still go back, mainly for the approach to beer.

Always a host of different excellent beers on pump and tap, which is usually matched with a fine selection of bottle.

It alway used to amaze me that someone would come in and order a Staropramen when there was some much other amazing beer available...that was until I realised it was better to keep my mouth shut (or full should I say) and enjoy as much of the good stuff myself.

The Evening Star, Brighton

Where the Dark Star story began.

This is a beer lovers palace with a very diverse crowd at any time.

One thing to be clear about is you're not really coming here for the decor, location (though it is close to the Brighton train station which is handy), etc. it's all about the beer.

Serves various from Dark Star, plus a variety of guest beers and then always a deep selection of bottles to choose from.

The Rake, London Bridge

Run by the same team behind Utobeer - this is a place to try many varied delights on bottle and on tap/pump.

You're not coming here for the location, decor or anything else. It's all about the beer selection
