The Perseverance, Kingsland

The Perce is a great pub for one reason. The people. The bar staff are great and after a visit or two will generally remember you. The regulars are also a bunch of fun. No hand pulled bitters but there is a decent range of lagers.

A good break from the gastro pubs of Islington (no kitchen) the Perce is a throw back to the old fashion boozer. Crowded and noisy when an Arsenal/England game is on.

The Hop and Berry, Islington

The Barnsbury is more of a gastro pub then a triditional pub, but it does make a change from the cocktail lounges and wine bars on Upper st. Three hand pumped ales (that vary) and a decent range of largers.
