The Britannia Arms, Monterey

Had an utterley splendid evening here in April of this year. Ambiance was good and Guinness even had a Shamrock in the head.
The food was excellent and the service was attentive without being servile.
Sadly, I've heard that this place has "gone bust".
Is this true? - If so, what a shame!

The Crooked Billet, Leigh on Sea

Called in for luncheon yesterday - unable to book as phone does not take incoming calls!
Good selection of real ales; settled on a pint of Adnams followed by London Pride.
Lunch was an ample sufficiency although the service was diabolical. Three bar staff who seemed to double as waiting staff did their best. Suspect the hold-up ws in the tiny kitchen. When it came it was good.
Perhaps they should operate a restricted menu on Sunday - possibly offering only a choice of Sunday Roasts?
Will visit again but probably not on a Sunday

Vauxhall Inn, Tonbridge

Potential goldmine but restricted by pettiness! NO bar tab (Even if you're eating) in the garden - offer of credit card refused. "not allowed to do that!".
Beer ok though but staff sullen and oppressed.
