The Hanover, Brighton

Overall this is a decent pub with very nice staff and fine selection of local ales (Langham, Dark Star, 1648 etc) at very good prices.

The food is OK too - nice stone-baked pizzas (though I find they can sometimes be under-cooked) and the roast is pretty good, though a bit thin on the meat side I find.

However, this pub should be re-named "The Crèche". I know that pubs need to make a special effort to welcome families but it has gone to an extreme at this boozer. Sundays are naturally the worst - you will find at least 20 young kids quite literally running about screaming when you visit. Early evenings on many weekdays are just as bad.

If you can stomach the screaming kids, I would reccommend this pub.

The Gladstone, Brighton

A decent pub that is often let down by complacent staff. My last three visits Ive had to ask the same bar girl to fill my pint properly. Good garden though and the food is usually pretty good too. On a good night, it can have a great atmos, on a quiet night, the bar staff seem more interested in chatting with their friends. Pretty pricey too.
