The Red Lion and Sun, Highgate Village

I really don't understand why some other locals have written such horrid things about this place.
Before it's recent re-fit it was a grubby old pub, with moldy, sticky carpets. It was dark, gloomy and smelt bad.
It's now bright, airy and still maintians a lot of traditional features such as the wood panneling and open fire places.
The new owner has worked extremely hard to make the place appealing, and to my mind he has acheived this.
Whilst this is still a pub, they do offer table service (for drinks alone is fine). But should you choose to order food then that's equally fine. The food is of good quality and very well priced. The average starter is only �4 and the mains are about �6.50... so not pricey (especially for Highgate).
I cannot stress enough just how welcoming they have been to us and our friends. We will continue to visit this pub regularly and suggest that others do the same.
