The Noahs Ark Inn, Lurgashall

The pub itself is a lovely old place, but I found the food rather overpriced for the quantity that eventually arrived. However the beer was cheaper than many in this area. But I can only agree with the others here who have mentioned that the number of cars parked all over the village green don't help the experience of a pub visit. I spoke to a lady there who told me that their village green gets churned to mud in winter just because of the pub visitors parking all over it.

Knowing this made me feel rather guilty that I was contributing to wrecking this pretty village green by even visiting the pub and swelling the numbers who park on the grass, but there was no where else to park. They seem to have a garden behind the pub and I would have thought that could be converted to parking. I will visit again but maybe wait until there are enough of us to make up one full car-load rather than each arrive in a separate car, that way I can enjoy the experience and not feel guilty.

The Angel Inn, Petworth

They have done a wonderful job in refurbishing this pub recently, and it now looks far more appealing than it did previously. We have been there twice now since the refurbishment and both times it was very good, prompt service.

Glad to see the post above about the children, nice to know some pubs don't tolerate loud kids! The manager is obviously experienced as he handled some slightly tipsy guys who came in with tact and politeness but firmly. Food was excellent, and our Australian guests really liked the pub. The garden patio area is nice to sit in and the waitresses were helpful in moving us indoors when it started to rain, carry our drinks and food to a new table indoors for us.

Over all a nice helpful, pub with good food and drink and a nice atmosphere Recommended.

The Half Moon Inn, Northchapel

A real local pub, with friendly owners happy to chat and an amazing collection of old rural bygones covering both the walls and ceiling. Huge inglenook fireplace. Nice to find a pub that has a landlord who has been there many years and has not sold out to the gastropub idea, unlike many pubs in this area. Food was good and home made, the sort of pub that caters for hungry people who like large portions. Curry came with lots of extras. OH said the beer was good. I drink cider and was pleased to find stowford press which I like. There is a beer garden with a courtyard. Local magazines to read if you want. Dog friendly, easy parking, and easy to arrange to meet people as you just look for the big red tractor sitting outside. They do B&B appartments too.
