The Clock House Hotel, Chideock

Well we come to Chideock 3 times a year every year and this place just goes from strength to strength. Guess the owners have been here about 8yrs or so now and every time we visit it just seems busier than before. This is a family run establishment and therefore offers the only value for money in the village. It is a proper pub that offers great pub grub, a full plate at a reasonable price. Looking at the pub right up it now has 30 teams playing there in the winter so it is obvious where the locals go and if it is good enough for them then that will do for me. Always a friendly welcome and always time for a chat. For us it is now the only pub in the village. Keep it up.

The George Inn, Chideock

Sorry anne and sally i have to disagree. Yes the pub is under new management but the menu is very limited now and the pub has only declined over the last 3 yrs since paul and tracy where there. We visit chideock 3 times a year every year and tried this week knowing there where new managers. Still grunted at on arrival, still made to feel " we only want your money " with no friendly chat at all. Drinks are on average �1 per pint dearer than another establishment in the village and we ate at that same establishment twice for less than our single meal cost here. Same music at the pub as it was 6-7 yrs ago and repeated every wednesday and some saturdays. Time for a change of tactic needed but being a tied pub it probably cant compete with the other pub on the main road. Prices are facts the rest is just our opinion sorry.
