The Magpie and Crown, Brentford

Hi, Steve the 'faux bonhomie' dispensing publican here. Just thought I'd add a few words. Yes, the staff(including me) have made a few postings here but this is usually to reply to some of the negative postings. While we're on that subject I'd like to mention that of the 60 postings, only 13 were made by staff(I've actually included a member of staff that wasn't employed by me at the time of these postings) which leaves 47 postings that could of only come from CUSTOMERS (your caps). Of those 47 only 9 are negative or have a negative aspect to the posting (including yours, Mr. Anonymous, what's the matter? afraid we might recognise you for one of the 'discharges' from the magistrates court?). When we see a negative entry on this site, we set about trying to address the problem (assuming it's a valid point), which includes posting a response.

Gordon's missive, I thought, was a well balanced item, he agreed that some points that people had made were valid, but he was also replying to some earlier comments about our toilets, the rest of his posting was to thank our CUSTOMERS for going above and beyond the call of duty. How many other pubs do you know where the CUSTOMERS give up their valuable drinking and working time to clear up a yard to create a beer garden? As for the Magpie & Crown being a LOCALS pub, I'm afraid you may have taken my "League Of Gentlemen" T-shirt a bit too literally, or you haven't been in to see us recently as we try to provide an atmosphere where you can either have a quiet drink, or have a conversation with 'friends you've never met before' as the Irish would say. Next time you're in, friend, come and talk to us.
