The Sportsman 'Time Well Spent', Mogador

What a lovely place! My husband used to come here years ago and we decided to go for lunch with our children and then go for a walk on the downs. The food was extremely yummy and the portions a great size. Staff friendly and polite, even though it was very busy and the toilets were very clean (always important to me). Can't wait for our next visit.

King Alfred Inn, Bridgwater

We came here on a weekend break in October last year after eating elsewhere (unfortunately) and immediately realised our error. Stayed for a drink - local Cider and a beautiful glass of Merlot and vowed to return if ever in the area. We did just that this Sunday, which was Mothers' Day - my husband had booked a table for us prior to our arrival. There was a tiny hitch with the table but, oh my, did the amazing Sunday dinner and service make up for a tiny error. Our two young children were perfectly catered for and all the food was actually amazing!!!! Today there was a folk band playing and they were a lovely addition to a great afternoon. The kind of place where the locals don't look annoyed at outsiders and the amazing range of ciders, beers and wines make the pub a lovely place to spend some time. To be honest would have loved to have stayed in King Alfred for hours but the kids had other ideas.
