The Sportsman, Croxley Green

Can't believe I've never reviewed my own watering hole. This is pub of the year locally. Not hard to see why. There is always an excellent selection of real ales on offer - six as often as not. If you like the lighter hoppier ales, then they invariably have the likes of a Quadhop or Hophead or Citra type beer on. Look out for the brilliant beer festivals they hold twice a year. There is a friendly, welcoming family feel to the pub from Jason, Tracy and Dan and all of the staff. And...they even let Dan loose with a paintbrush recently and so it has had a lick of paint.

The White Lion, Bridgnorth

Friendly, welcoming pub with a comfy feel. They had a number of lovely ales on (though through a sparkler - ugh!). Friendly staff and a welcome retreat on a cold day. Well worth a visit.

The Old Castle, Bridgnorth

There was a good selection of three beers when we attended a few weeks ago. They were all tasty and well-kept, though alas the landlord insisted on having a sparkler on the taps and some lovely local beers were infused with oxygen to give them a faux creamy head. Perhaps that's what the locals want? Not sure. Anyway, a nice pub, the landlord and staff couldn't have been more friendly or welcoming. The food was plentiful and excellent and the somehow the landlord got about 14 meals all served at the same time, no mean feat on a busy Saturday lunchtime. Well recommended - ditch the sparkler though please!!
