The Duke Of Cumberlands Head, Clifton

I stayed here recently for one night with the family whilst travelling through.
We had a fantastic meal, I can certainly recommend the 28 day aged steak - fantastic.
The family room we had was adaquate, albeit a bit dated, but for 50 very reasonable.
The pub is on it's own with the nearest pubs being 1.5 miles away, not close enough to walk for me! However, very frienly staff so a few beers in the bar after our meal was very nice.

The Fox and Hounds, Lyndhurst

We've stayed at this pub for a long weekend once a year for the last five years. Each time we've had a fantastic stay, until the last visit.....never again! We were in a different room to normal this time and it was shocking. Dirty, hard bed, shower literally trickled. On our last night we had a knock on the door at 11pm asking us to pay our bill! to which I asked them politely to wait til the morning!!
The food could only be discribed as re-heated, tasteless muck!
On a good note, the staff were very friendly and helpful.
A great place for a few drinks, but avoid staying there and eating what they discribe as food!

The Wykeham Arms, Winchester

Fantastic Pub/Inn.
I've visited for food and beer on numerous occasions and stayed twice, my first overnight stop was in 1994 and then recently in 2006. The beer, food and staff are great, well worth several visits. The accomodation is expensive, but certainly worth the treat, can't be faulted. Also a superb breakfast (lots).
I look forward to visiting again on my next trip across the water.
