The Bell, Maidenhead

I tend to visit for a lunchtime beer as it's just over the road. The cask ale is fresh and well kept, the food is typical Brake Brothers fare (i.e. straight out of the freezer) but good, it's clean, and has Sky Sports and a half dozen pool tables. Pretty much everything you need.

The Live and Let Live, Guildford

Found the pub while looking for somewhere showing Sky Sports. First impressions were that it's a locals pub with all the main things you would expect: real ale, pool table, dart board, Jukebox and TV in the corner. Of the four real ale pumps at the bar, only one was on with Ruddles County the only option, although a good pint. The mix of locals was broad. There were a bunch of young lads playing pool, darts and keeping the jukebox flowing, while a small group of pensioners were playing cards in the main bar area. While I didn't consider the atmosphere to be hostile, there was plenty of swearing going on and if you were of a nervous disposition then navigating your way to the gents toilet past the local youngsters at the pool table could be intimidating. In summary, it's not somewhere where you would take your girlfriend on a first date but for watching sport with a pint it ticks all the boxes.
