Ryan's Bar, Stoke Newington

Truly awful. Clearly never been cleaned before - though doubtful that the permanent excessive over-drinking local fixture types could be cleaned around or even persuaded to be remotely polite.... Bar staff were rude, ignorant and extremely slow. Would not recommend this at all - much better pubs in Angel or Finsbury Park to watch the football!

The Globe Inn, Sampford Peverell

Bring back Andrew and Sue! This place has had more managers that I care to remember in the last four years and has seriously gone downhill since. A once heaving pub where you had to book for a meal on a Friday night, never mind the weekend, has been utterly deserted, which is a realy shame as it used to have a fantastic atmosphere.

The Rose and Crown, Stoke Newington

I really enjoy the atmosphere in this pub - genuine set of friendly, harmless locals who are all exceptionally welcoming. However, I must concur with the previous posts regarding food - I am aware after speaking to the Manager there, they have changed the chef recently but are aware of the problems and are trying to rectify them. Not a great help when the improvements hadn't taken place by the time our food arrived! But, they were apologetic and understanding.
Also, definitely concur with the comments about Sundays being overrun with screaming uncontrolled intolerable babies, children and the like. If you must bring them to a pub, keep them quiet and out of the way, otherwise employ a babysitter!
