The Bridge Inn, Audlem

Ate there for the first time in 10 years at the weekend. Excellent food, a definite cut above the average pub meal, and very good value. Highly recommended.

The Canonbury, Canonbury Place

So near yet so far; lovely building, great refurb (in my opinion, but one newspaper thinks it looks like "Watford Premier Inn" on the inside), huge garden. Large restaurant area, but more space for people who are there to drink than a few gastropubs I could mention.

But... The restaurant and bar service is currently a shambles; either there aren't enough staff, or the management is awful, or they hire people who are incapable. We waited 45 mins to order food, without success, before finding out that the kitchen was being closed to clear the back-log. We gave it up as a bad job and left (for a good lunch at the Albion). I really hope they get their act together and make it as good a pub as the setting deserves.

Also: �4.25 for a pint of lager?! Unjustified.
