The Blue Anchor, Tadworth

Erm.. I am not "staff" nor do I work for "M and B".... I happen to live in the road behind the Blue Anchor and it wasnt a great place and now it is.. why be so negative? I gave a good review as it deserved it.. I assume you work in a local pub and are annoyed by the new competition....?? I notice you only have one comment on here, so dont judge me for not having loads - I actually have 2 comments! Check out the Sportsman review I gave! P.S You are one miserable git!

The Sportsman 'Time Well Spent', Mogador

Here is a quote from Adam Edwards who has been searching for the best traditional country pubs. He had some rough-and-ready rules: "The pub must serve decent beer [and] be part of the local community. The food must be simple and good, but should not eclipse the important business of drinking. It should not be so popular that the locals have been squeezed out, nor so exclusive that it did not welcome the colonel and the cleaning lady. Ideally, there should be no piped music, no microwaves and no electronic games. Dogs, and gumboots must be allowed. Children could be seen, but should not be heard......." I think we can safely say The Sportsman would pass with flying colours on all counts! This is, in my humble opinion, the best pub in the area for miles - Marc runs this pub with his heart and luckily also has a great business head and knows exactly what the punters want from a pub.

The Blue Anchor, Tadworth

I went to the Blue Anchor last night for a quick bite to eat and to check out the re-furb. My friend and I weren't hugely hungry so we decided to share a few starters instead of a main meal. The food was outstanding, the wine was delicious, the cocktails were fab and the service was fantastic. It is much brighter and more modern inside, some local pubs have been re-furbished and ruined but I believe on this occasion it has worked well. I will be going back! Well done and good luck to the new team.
