Profile information

Born and still live in Maidstone, and work as a civil servant at the local DVLA Office.

I am a regular drinker in Maidstone and also London due to its close proximity to Kent. I will also make regular visits to the north of England when attending Harelquins RL matches and enjoy local towns such as Rochester and West Malling.

The George, Twickenham

Slipped in last night having parked along the street and was in need of the closest boozer. Was fairly underwhelmed with what we found. The first problem was that London Pride was off so my mate had to settle for a Stella, and along with a pint of coke came in at a shade under 6. The style to us appeared to be a Wetherspoons knock off (see the similar looking menu, including prices and offers) and the clientele seemed to be the lower end of the Twickenham class structure. Some positives for this place include the pool table, dart board and wide selection of fruits and quiz machines.

The Eel Pie, Twickenham

Until recently a complete unknown to me. Like many visitors to Twickenham i suspect i fell into the trap of walking away from the station and stopping in the Wetherspoons for the sheer convenience. Once i heard about this place however i was somewhat sceptical about what to expect price wise, but was pleasantly suprised to find it extremely reasonable. The range of ales and lagers is ok, nothing amazing, but they are in very good condition. The pub itself if very nice and the service it top notch. For me this is a much better bet than any of the pubs outside the station.

The White Horse, Parsons Green

Due to the area this pub happens to find itself in you prepare yourself for the worst in terms of price. Despite this fact there is some value to be had and a wide range of drinks to suit every taste. The only downside i have found from this pub is the ridiculous price of the BBQ whenever it is fired up. In excess of 7 for a burger, which unsuprisingly saw only a couple of takers on a rather busy Saturday afternoon.
