The Elephant Inn, North Finchley

By far best pub in N12 for my money - in fact it is perhaps the best pub in the whole Finchley area. Good range of Fuller's finest and friendly staff. Have never tried the Thai restaurant, but if you want a good pint in nice surroundings in N12, this is the place to go.

Castle, Farringdon

Went there on a wet and very quiet Saturady afternoon...nice old style pub with a reasonable range of beers, including some speciality ones (e.g. Hoegaarden). Food was good and staff were friendly. In the evenings they sometimes have DJs playing dance/alternative music and the clientele is noticeably trendier.

Old Royal Oak, Hillmorton

Many, many moons ago several members of my family used to work at this pub...since then it has been hugely extended and is now part of the 'Hungry Horse' chain. Good for families because of the cheap food but it's more like a Beefeater or Harvester now than a pub.
