The Sportsman, Seasalter

I've been there on 3 occasions and the food, service and general ambiance has been excellent everytime. The food is quite simply sensational - the best place I've ever eaten, the service is unfussy and the barstaff are always really friendly.

If you're a foodie this place is a must.

The Grantley Arms, Wonersh

I am frankly disgusted with the pub's pricing policy. I drove over a couple of weeks ago (August 2013) to see a friend's band and was charged the best part of £4 for a lager shandy (50% lager, 50% lemonade) and £2.40 for a pint of soda water with a dash of lime cordial. £2.40!! That is basically extortion. Some places will give soda water away for free as it's just fizzy water so the £2.40 was for the cost of the cordial which probably cost tuppence. Needless to say I won't be returning, this is no way to treat drivers for a pub that's off he beaten track.

The food looked stodgy and disappointing too.

The Keystone, Guildford

The owners have deliberately distanced themselves from the term 'gastropub' and I must say I couldn't agree more. Given their reputation my friends and I were expecting a decent plate of home cooked grub from the Keystone, yet the meats were so overcooked it made us wonder whether the chef was paranoid about food poisoning. My cumberland sausages were so badly treated they resembled charcoal, the beef burger had a think, crisp outer shell which made the experience of eating it quite unpleasant, and inevitably the chicken was as dry as a bone. Maybe we were just unlucky, but at 30 between the 3 of us plus drinks I sharn't be going back to find out. Give me Wetherspoons any day of the week!
