The Harrow, Hadlow

Decent pint of Shepherd Neame spite fire. Decent menu, well priced. Nice staff. Huge well kept gardenwith kids play area and a Pentanque pit.

Harveys, Ramsgate

Now under new management and part of Kent Inns of Distinction.

It's not really a pub any more.

But there's a great bar.

The Abergavenny Arms Hotel, Frant

What a disappointment. After a long awaiting refurb under new ownership, the place looks good and finally gets some customers.

The Harveys was off, which was a shame.

The menu looked good and reasonably priced.

But the landlady had a face like thunder. It's a long day if your doing B&Bs and running a pub, but that's her choice.

The food when it finally came was awful.

Two of us ordered the stir fried king prawns, another opted for the belly of pork. The pork was OK, but it's a difficult dish to rium.

The prawns were disgusting and the smallesy 'Kings' I've ever seen. Chewy, tasteless and undercooked. They came with a pink sauce - I've no idea what was it in other than chilli. I like spicy food, but it was devoid of any other flavours.

We sent them away, but the waiter spoke to the chef, who offered to replace them, but we declined. Had he come out of the kitchen to apologise or explain himself we may have changed our minds.

The landlady made no apology, but didn't charge for the two prawn dishes.

All kitchens can have an off day, but there's no excuse for rudeness.

We won't be going back.

We rescued our eveing by going round the corner to The George, which is a much friendlier place and one where the govenor at least wants your custom.
