Cafe Bar Contemporary, Nottingham

Have been here twice now. Nice food but a bit overpriced for the portion sizes. Food is served on weird slate platters. They really need to get some more highchairs. They only have 2 highchairs for quite a large eating area with lots of families. On the most recent visit we managed to find a highchair only to be told by the management that it had been reserved by another family, who had arrived after us, and the chair was promptly taken away! They also need to sort out the heating of baby food: they seem to think it safer to provide a cannister (a wine cooler) of boiling water for you to fish the baby food in/out of than put the baby food in their microwave for 20 seconds! They (jokingly) said that they food would turn radioative if it was put in their microwave: not very funny!

The Fox House Inn, Longshaw

Had a meal in this pub in 2007 and had a pleasant time. Went back today (June 2010) and had a terrible meal. The service was atrocious and very surly, and the food was very poor. While waiting for 15 minutes to pay we found out that we weren't the only customers to have had this experience. We understand that in 2009 this place went into new ownership and it looks to me as though it is quickly going downhill. Don't waste your time going here.

The Star Inn, Harome

Agree totally with craigstardrinker. The barman was very rude to us in a similar way. The food was nice but a bit pretentious. They probably get a lot of custom because of the Michelin star rating. However, if you're prepared to look you can find some much nicer, lesser known pubs around the area, with better, more honest food and pleasant service.
