The George Inn, Chideock

Made two visits in a week while staying in the area and enjoyed it both times. Four Palmers ales on tap, Best Bitter, 200, Copper Ale and Dorset Gold all of which were in decent form. The menu is mainly based around the specials board and offers a decent variety of dishes including local seafood and more meaty offerings. Would highly recommend a Chideock Egg as a starter (scotch egg made with chorizo, delicious) and the fish and chips was excellent (although they are fries, not chips) with a generous sized piece of fish and nice crispy batter. The staff were helpful and friendly and they also allow dogs in, which is nice.

The Clock House Hotel, Chideock

Visited a couple of times last week, it seems to be a real community pub - when we went there was a skittles league taking place and a poker night and numerous other events are advertised. Three ales were on tap, Wadworth 6X, Hobgoblin and a guest ale and were fine, if not particularly inspiring. The food is pretty standard pub grub but was decently cooked and the portions were hearty. The welcome was warm and the bar staff were on the ball and friendly.

The Anchor, Seatown

Superbly situated pub down in Seatown with loads of outdoor space, if the weather isnt great though its pretty small inside and it can be a struggle to get a table. As with most places in this area the beer is from Palmers but to be honest it wasnt in the best of condition and seemed a little flat. The food was excellent though, there are numerous dishes on the specials board and as you would expect with a pub that is a stones throw from the sea, seafood plays a prominent part. The fish and chips was a generous portion with some good crispy batter, hake with a pea, bacon and butter sauce was delicious. The interior looked like it had seen better days and a bit of sprucing up wouldnt go amiss (the toilets are not particularly pleasant)
