The Racehorse, Carshalton

I could see the intention but not the delivery. The signage on the way in suggested a refurbished pub. The interior suggested something else! There was a musky, dirty smell in the pub which put me off ordering food. The place looked like it had not been cleaned for weeks.

After a few drinks my friend and I decided to risk some food. It was about 8.40pm (only!) and the staff did not look happy. To be fair to the bar staff, they did speak to the 'chef' and offered to take our order, but he waved his hands so much we felt he had little energy left to cook our meals, and left. Either that or we were concerned about what we would receive!

All in all, a disappointing experience. This is a good example of why the chain pubs do so well....
