The Havelock, Hastings

The reopened Havelock is a welcome addition to the Hastings real ale scene. Good pint of Timothy Taylors last week and also had Youngs Special and Harveys. It is sparsely furnished but clean and tidy with a large stock of spirits and cocktail mixers.

Mermaid Inn, Rye

More of a hotel bar than a pub, but with a great ancient fireplace burning huge logs in the winter and plenty of outside seating in the summer. The Harveys and London Pride are normally in good condition and conversation can be very interesting given the variety of clientele. Not cheap, but then nor are the surroundings!

The Dolphin Inn, Hastings

This is really good pub right in the heart of the fishing boat area of the old Town. Beers I've tried, Harveys and Hophead are well kept and the fish meals are excellent. Best of all are the pleasant and efficient staff who remember who you are and remember to provide an old guy with a jug for his Harveys even though I'm not there all that often. Other bars in Hastings have a lot to learn from this ace pub.
