The Green Man, Putney Heath

To wolfdog - if you have read any of my posts, you will see that I haven't always described the Green Man positively. From that point of view, you can't really accurately describe me as having a bias towards the pub.

Well done arctral on your forensic deductions. Curious to how the various posters you highlight with similarities all refer to the Green Man as 'the GM', which appears to be a rather telling consistency...

Maybe there is some single individual out there with an agenda. Either way, it should be confined to emails rather than on here. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this designed to review pubs than act as a bitching forum board.

The Green Man, Putney Heath

Am sure the managers will be surprised as I am that the Green Man appears to have been twinned with the Crown in Westcott as that's where most of those who have grievances with the Green Man recently also appear to drink.

Curiously coincidental...

The Green Man, Putney Heath

I have read the last few comments with interest and a fair amount of amazement.

I have been a regular at the Green Man for a good number of years. Am curious how someone who started drinking there a couple of months ago can describe himself as a 'regular' and claim to be able to accurately describe the behaviour of such regulars when, as far as I can tell, the same faces always seem to be there whenever I pop in - all as happy and cheery as ever. I guess we must be all the 'old soaks' referred to by BD Mark which I personally find distasteful.

As to the behaviour of any the staff described by BD Mark - I personally have never witnessed anything of the like. I have a shrewd idea which barman is referred and find the assessment of him impossible - usually it is difficult to hear him as he mumbles far too much, far from him declaiming his sexuality 'very loudly'. I have heard the occasional banter with the regular faces which is all well and good and to be expected, welcomed even rather than the drunken ramblings of others at the bar who use expletives every other word. I would much personally prefer the former repartee to the latter bawl. From that point of view the comments have the air of a personal attack (and it is rather shameful choosing to 'out' a member of staff on a public forum rather than taking a sensible approach and choosing to air grievances to the managers - obviously as a 'regular' BD Mark would know exactly who to approach).

Interesting to note that BD Mark describes his profile as 'Like a decent in a decent pub, where the staff are friendly, the beer good and the food edible. Attitude pube need not apply.' If the regulars who have, and continue, to patronise the pub for many years are described as 'old soaks' then it appears BD Mark had soaked up many a glass when he chose to write that.

I will confess that my recent comments on my little local haven't been the best but there has since been a marked improvement. On almost every occasion I have popped in recently the service has been flawless and you would still have to travel far to beat the Sunday roast. Other pubs (such as the Telegraph) have chosen to rest on their laurels whereas the Green Man has chosen to up the stakes of late.
