The Old Dairy, Finsbury Park

Old Dairy music quiz is an institution (although someone should tell the NME staff that it's a bit sad to go every week!), and I think the service has improved - the old staff were really rather miserable. I have enjoyed two very good roasts in here recently and so have no complaints about the food.
Used to prefer the Larrik, but now the Old Cow is a winner.

The Stapleton Tavern, Finsbury Park

Clearly they have hiked up the prices to ensure they get a certain kind of clientele. Well that has worked, as I don't think I have seen it emptier. The prices are extortionate and the staff (who used to be regular and fun) are now different every week.
Can someone please get that new manager to stop playing with his 'band'???
Not a good idea to hav elive music on a thursday - are they stupid? the old dairy has it's busiest night so it's not wise to drive away clients that you wouldn't normally get with music that was not only rubbish but far too loud. Oh and note to the bar staff, suggesting your clients actually go to the Old Dairy instead is not gonna stop people complaining that the Larrik has changed for the worse.

The Nicholas Nickleby, Stroud Green

Looks great from the outside, but that's where you should stay. Distinctly local (chilly) feel in the main bar - which was a shame as it's a nice area. Moved into the back/side room whatever you want to call it. The lighting was far too bright and the music was turned up so loud a few minutes after we sat down that we had to yell at each other. We were then given such dirty looks that we thought we had taken over the table of a recently deceased local. The kids running around (late on a firday night) didn't help either.
Left after one.
