The Ladbroke Arms, Notting Hill

Definitely in the top ten pubs in London - it is still a pub - despite a fab restaurant - and have for many years popped into this as my local, for a pint and some peace and have always been made welcome. And so has my dog.

The Hanging Gate, Sutton

We called in today when out for a hike - and I have to say found this pub charming. We had a sandwich (absolutely fine, large, lovely fresh bread and served with a little salad and chips). My husband tells me the beer was tasty and well kept and my glass of Shiraz was perfectly acceptable. The 'fearsome' landlady described below was friendly and welcoming and made a fuss of our dog. We found the prices compatible to all other peak district pubs - and we are locals. I laughed when reading the complaint abode from the person who comaoned that 2 coffee and 2 glasses of port were expensive at 11.50 - seems like reasonable value to me. And it is true - the view is good!

The Surprise at Chelsea, Chelsea

This pub has recently re-opened following a complete refurbishment. It is eveything a Chelsea pub should be.
