The Steam Coach, Boxmoor

Had to leave the Blackbirds saturday night and move down here, not my favourite pub but at least it will do till they get cleaned up at the birds. Was packed here this saturday and the atmosphere was fantastic. Got served quick enough, usual D**k hds but then alot of strange faces too because of the fair. Great view of the fire works and lots to see going on. The moor was packed too. This was my favourite this time.. watch this space

The Three Blackbirds, Boxmoor

Well visited this pub a few times recently and hasn't been too bad but recently it has been run at night time by a very different young staff who seem a bit confused. I was in last Thursday and asked about my favourite, Lizzie and was told she wasn't well, get well soon Lizzie. She is the best staff in a pub I have seen for a long time.I was also told that the manager was on holiday for a few weeks and have to say, it shows, the place is very dirty. The cigs butts in the car park and outside the front could be their way of hiding the fact that no glasses had been collected. An over turned table in the middle of the outside seating was a lovely feature. Maybe it should be in the Tate called "ashtray fallen off table", must be a big one. Funfare was good, old fashioned but great crowds.

although I don't live near this pub, I was driving by one day and looked so good from the outside had to go in, was in the evening and was driving so couldn't stay long. A realy nice pub but the person who seemed to be the manager was a bit in your face but the pub was realy nice and will try it again....

As you will see I have just moved here and pub research is very important. Done a few and looking forward to doing more. This one, hard to say, would I make it my local?No... why? well being a frequent flyer, so to speak, I love pubs and sorry guys your place just aint it. Coming from the station up the hill home, I would pass it by as I found it to be full of di** heads. My visit there was ok, didn't order food, didn't feel right and the girl who served me was a bit too friendly, skinny girl who seemed to be quiet good at her job but so friendly I felt unconfortable. The pub is in a great setting by the canal, shame it is this one. Saying all this, I will visit it again, cause only been once and first impressions and all.. Sorry guys

Just moved here recently, lovely area except for the racist scum that seem to be everywhere...
Can't disagree with the other comments appart from the fact that it seemd the people that drink in the pub, sorry to all you non offenders but alot of the guys that drink here are "stuck up thier own" if you know what I mean.Staff nice and lovely pub but too clicky for my liking, saying that I will go in again..

I have just moved into Boxmoor Hemel and have to say, not a bad place to be, lots to see for the boys and girls, you lucky people. I have been to a few bars in the area and so far I think this place is the more pleasing. I had a bit of food which was very reasonably priced and very tasty, being a curious kind of guy, asked a few questions and was told the chef was Thai and it seems has a great reputation for his cooking.Had a good night last night too after my meal, had a game of pool with a local guy while watching the darts match. Will be going to see the guys on Thursday as they have a female artist singing at the pub.. looking forward to it... watch this space.....
