Via Fossa, Canary Wharf

Sort your door staff out!!
Turning people for no real reason!
Get some guys on the door who know the area!

Bar 38, Canary Wharf

Bar 38? Noisy, loud. full of Canary wharf types, but believe it or not theres a really good crowd in here. Takes ages to get a beer(real ale types stay away-peroni, Kronenburg etc) a good night out, the door staff are good(especially the Asian guy-really knows how to work a door).
Well don anyway.

The Anchor and Hope, Charlton

Ate in this pub a few years ago and the portions were massive!! A great steak, chips&salad as big as what you'd eat at home-lovely. Best of all it was very very cheap. The staff are friendly, a family run pub I believe, nice people. Only been on a weeknight but I should imagine weekends are good. Yeah they got no real ales but so what, theres plenty of places selling real ales, whatever it lacks here, it makes up in other ways. I hear someone say the area is not so appealing on the eye, well hey thats not the pubs fault.

The Bok Bar, Covent Garden

Been here a few times over the years and enjoyed it. Never made to feel unwelcome by Saffas(Im English), as for racism allegations when I have been there I have seen black Africans drinking here with no problems.

Henry Addington, Canary Wharf

Used to be the trouble hotspot of the wharf (xmas 2003-last friday of the work year-at least 7 people hospitalised inlcuding the assistant manager)seems to have clamed down now. Good.

Via Fossa, Canary Wharf

Went on a Saturday night, full of drunk little kids barging you as they pass. The door staff not much better especially the African guy who insists on screaming&shouting at closing time. FFS we paid for the beer we're gonna drink it alright!

All Bar One, Canary Wharf

Full of suits. Plus they seem to let the local bully boys drink here. Have heard plenty of stories of assaults in here by local thugs.
A shame as its a nice looking place.

The Peacock, Canning Town

Sadly no more. Was a fairly decent pub.

The Fox @ Excel, ExCeL London

Hmmm what can I say?
Fox@connaught is better, excel is like being in a cellar, a bit dark. Good when theres an exhibition on at Excel, dead when theres not.

Millers Well, East Ham

As said food is abysmal, good selection of beers though be it real ales or international lagers etc.
Gets busy on Friday night, quite a few women.
Full of old alcos inthe daytime though. Probably the best in the area.

The Hammers, East Ham

Looking rather nice thanks to its refurb.

10 Feb 2008 00:06

The Central, Upton Park

OK on West Ham matchdays, Friday nights are to be avoided like the plague.
Full of tracksuited, baseball capped chavs with knives, plus loads of East Euro mafia types. Not thanks.

The Royal Oak, North Woolwich

Been renovated somewhat rather poooosh for the area.
Bit on the small side like someones front room. Looks nice though.

10 Feb 2008 00:04

The California, North Woolwich

As said sitting empty. Many a memory of that place as a young drinker.

10 Feb 2008 00:03

The Royal Standard, North Woolwich

Seems like its struggling of late, a shame as the manager is making an effort to keep it going.

10 Feb 2008 00:03

The Henley Arms, North Woolwich

A locals local if you know what I mean?
Fairly friendly crowd, apart from a few young idiots, beer is OK, staff friendly.
Good on football days.

The Fox at Connaught, Silvertown

A decent pub, the best in this part of London. Bar staff are friendly, food is ok, could have bigger selection of beers, but you cant have everything. A decent mixed-crowd of locals, exhibitors from excel and airport staff. Fridays get busy. The best in the area by far.
