The Clifton, Greenbank

Pub has died the death since the new landlady took over. If you like a quiet pint this is the place for you. But then again they will probably have runout of ale two days after the dray has been. Get there before 2100 as she will have probably have closed. Avoid like the plague, go to the Provvy round the corner.

The Blue Boar, Southend on Sea

Visited this pub for the first time in 30 years before a game at the adjacent SUFC. I know that things seem bigger when you are little but this pub seemed to have shrunk. Found out that it was in fact a lot bigger before they built flats at the back. Still we had a very pleasant couple of hours. Door staff were very professional even to us away fans. Probably helped that I went to school with his brother. Do not try and get in if you look anywhere under 21 but all the better for it. Reccomended.

Papillon, Southend on Sea

Had the misfortune to visit this dump after watching my football team at Southend United. Barmaid kept talking about Kent. Well that is what we thought but realised she was actually using the C word

Boomerangs, Mutley Plain

Went there to watch rugby as my local has cosed. Excellent atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. Even got me a 4 pint jug to save me walking back and for to the bar.

The Clifton, Greenbank

A gem in a sea of dross. Sells their own Classic brewed by Summerskills as well as 4 guest ales and cloudy scrumpy. An eclactic mix, from students from the nearby University to members of the local Aquilla bike club. Thoroughly recommended.

The Haystack, Canvey Island

Only Pub that seems to have no women in it at all, even when the evening disco starts.

The Boringdon Arms, Turnchapel

Could not agree more. A well hidden gem.

Quite simply Paradise on Earth

Jesters, Plymouth

Beelzebubs local. If this was the only pub/club left on earth I would stop drinking. Filled with a sense of impending violence. Keep your eyes to the floor or you will be accused of "Looking at my boirrrrrrd" Give it a wide berth.

The Royal Naval Arms, Keyham

A typical Matelots pub. Two big screens and several other TV's. Directors, John Smiths and Abbot Ale on hand pump. Excellent Landlord and Landlady. Can get very busy at times. Bar staff are all young girls and you may struggle to get served if you are not a srviceman aged under 25
