The Old Fox, Bricket Wood

Wurzel and Aunt Sally run a pub, beer is off and the place smells like old dog...Avoid!

27 Oct 2011 01:37

The Peahen, St Albans

A carnival of grotesque punters, chippy food and staff, not much of an ale choice either, could be good and could be better...Avoid!

26 Oct 2011 23:31

The King Harry, St Albans

Great attentive bar staff, well kept affordable ales, amazing conversation, good food, then go somewhere else........Avoid!

26 Oct 2011 23:24

The Snug, St Albans

Could do better....well overpriced, someone, somewhere lining their pockets with trust fund pocket money.

26 Oct 2011 02:29

The Fighting Cocks, St Albans

Horrid staff, always smugly in on their own jokes, dirty dogs sniffing around....over priced grub and beer....its more of a museum than a pub....Avoid!

The Beehive, St Albans

Serves til 12 on a Friday, a mix of cocaine youth and fuddy duddys...wipe your feet when you leave...

26 Oct 2011 02:13

The Swan Inn, Chappel

Avoid! Unwelcoming reception from a drip of a bar maid, sat on the bar was the remains of an unfinished, half eaten baguette which was attracting the attention of a cluster of bar flies. Ordered coffee as we were driving through, would not like to try the beer as the coffee was stewed and disgusting served with unwashed filthy teaspoons. Would not come back here. Apparently the Ladies loos are clean though if that's your thing.

Three Hammers, St Albans

Chips, chips and more chips...rude staff and greasy glasses, what's with all those flies around the bar area.....one to avoid!

26 Oct 2011 02:02

The Great Northern, St Albans

All the little pigs grunt and howl, the cats meow, the dogs bow wow, everybody makes a perfect row down on Jollity Farm!!

26 Oct 2011 01:52

The Verulam Arms, St Albans

Tried to pop in for Sunday Lunch, only to be told that they can't allow walk ins.....as they are booked up...not going to spend my hard earned in here with that sort of attitude; I said we'd go somewhere else and the answer was ok...not very welcoming, bad service, would not recommend, stay clear and avoid.

26 Oct 2011 01:34

The Goat, St Albans

promises much but delivers little, not changed for years, food chippy and bar staff moan about topping up the head of your pint...not a place to frequent, why is Doom Bar always on....no variety, simply boring, oh and pricey

3 Sep 2011 00:56

Mokoko, St Albans

Oh Shame - trying to be different but boring, people are lack lustre and prices are expensive in a recession, think twice - avoid!

Yachtsmans Arms, Brightlingsea

Dear as poison this pub a GK specimen, still the landlord must flog overpriced beer to pay his rent.

16 Apr 2010 23:24

The Famous Railway Tavern Brewing Co, Brightlingsea

Mud on the floor, mud on the walls, mud on the finger, dirty nails, poo in the beer.

Mokoko, St Albans

the no entry sign at the side of the building is there for a reason.....don't do it!

27 Jun 2008 19:28

The Hare and Hounds, St Albans

Have enjoyed a sumptuous but pricey sunday roast in here......locally produced food from Hedges etc went down a treat washed down with landlord...very happy!

22 Jun 2008 01:41

The Peahen, St Albans

snooty and overpriced without a good choice of ales, indifferent.

21 Jun 2008 21:49

Waterend Barn, St Albans

Spent a saturday afternoon here drinking and munching with friends and family, really had a good time, ok it's a wetherspoons....at least you know what you're getting, food came quickly too, for six quid a meal and a drink can you really moan?

21 Jun 2008 21:46

The Duke of Marlborough, St Albans

Snorbans has so many decent pubs, why choose this one which offers bog standard beer and food? Take your hard earned elsewhere....cor blimey innit.

4 Jun 2008 16:35

The Lower Red Lion, St Albans

Dear, dear, dear Matt_K old boy....this is St albans, don't you know, not some working mens club in Halifax, sources close to me advise you can still get a pint for under two quid in some pubs north of the watford gap....now that is worth putting up with rude landlords....in the Lower Red, pints there are near if not over the three pound mark and you're still made to feel uneasy....pah!

Holly Bush, St Albans

Lovely looking country pub in the miss marple mould. Price of beer is astronomical and no crisps only peanuts ( bar staff scissor cut the packet and pour into a small bowl so you can't lick the inside of the packet) Once the old farts who seem to inhabit the dark corners of this pub expire, there will be no punters left apart from yanks and germans.....go there but shudder in the tweeness and prices, and vow never to return!

27 May 2008 17:50

The Duke of Marlborough, St Albans

themed evenings?

27 May 2008 17:23

The Duke of Marlborough, St Albans

I totally agree that the pub has gone back in time, approximately 1860's I should say.....poor stench of urine emenating from the toilets last week, enough to put one off their ale....a place to avoid and leave for the regulars to enjoy....is this a gay pub?

27 May 2008 17:06

The Fighting Cocks, St Albans

Had the misfortune of venturing in here for a sunday lunch, felt don by getting a bowl of soup for a fiver ( soup was good though ) but had a mare of a roast beef roast, meat was badly cooked or porr quality, could not decide which. As for a pub, this is more trying to be up markey gastro pub, but the service is bad with either too busy bar staff or are they unattentive....enjoy the beer garden in the summer then head eleswhere.....except the DOM.

21 May 2008 22:22

The Duke of Marlborough, St Albans

Hello chaps, back again....nice pint of lager and crisps, place could do with a tidy up and a lick of paint. Loud brash locals don't make it a particular fav.

20 May 2008 22:32

Waffles Bar, Colchester

Been in here recently, has to be the gayest straight bar anyone could imagine. Has to be one of a kind with the crass pics of The King and Marilyn everywhere. Bottles of lager are priced at a pound a pop, strangley bizarre and glad to be moving on to real ale pub up the road.

8 May 2008 00:20

The Fat Cat, Colchester

Fat Cat - Good Job! great selection of beers, friendly atmosphere, good live music and late license, a pub to be cherished and well used me thinks. A v impressed customer, will be back.

7 May 2008 23:59

The Rosebud, Brightlingsea

The more I have been to this pub the more I like it, great ales on tap at honest prices and friendly locals, well worth visting.

7 May 2008 23:48

The Lower Red Lion, St Albans

Shame of shames, what used to be an amazing pub has changed incredibly for the worst. The Rude Landlord, expensive poor beer have made the place one to avoid which is a great pity. I shall be taking my dosh, time and patronage elesewhere..

7 May 2008 19:42

Mokoko, St Albans

charmless pub come bar thing, has lack of identity apart from loud brash music and no real ale, one to avoid and left to the nightclubbing bedwetters.

7 May 2008 19:30

The King Harry, St Albans

A turd of a pub, trying to be some pretentious wine bar...food is bad fish and chips the best thing on the menu, not really a friendly place to be.

7 May 2008 19:26

The Rose and Crown, St Albans

Could be alot better, agree about the Dog thing,,,,,should be banished from bar areas,I like the choice of ales, the moussaka was like lava and too overheated in a microwave, had been pulled out of a freezer ala blue peter and whacked on nuetron factor ten for five mins before being served up with a retro chicken in a basket garnish and costco oven chips, avoid said mousaka and just drink and have crisps or even cook at home and then drink, the choice is yours.

7 May 2008 01:18

The Farriers Arms, St Albans

I had the pleasure of drinking at the farriers a couple of weeks ago....great relaxed drink and will be going back...

7 May 2008 01:07

The Slug and Lettuce, St Albans

absolultley charmless with no real ale to boot, one for the girls and boys....

7 May 2008 00:43

The Overdraught, St Albans

Was in here about a week ago, fantastic to have been greeted by such a smiling happy-go-lucky barman or was he the landlord that made me feel great to be spending my hard earned in the pub, will be going back for more chat and friendly banter - or might stay at home and buy my beer down tescos, the choice is mine.

7 May 2008 00:41

The Goat, St Albans

Used to be a fine back street pub - now relying on staple ales such as the ubiqitous Tribute. Gone rapidly down hill with dirty glasses and shabby around the edges, feels slightly unclean and food is a clear rip offski....have boycotted this and moved down the road.
