The Swan Inn, Worthing

Not changed over the years still as good as ever with a good beer selection.

4 Jan 2011 17:55

The Red Lion, Petersfield

Nice building for a spoons but as usual the staff seem to be very one paced.

4 Jan 2011 17:53

The Flying Bull, Rake

Funny type of pub where you can be sitting at a table dinning with people yet there be in Hampshire and the other side of the table will be in West Sussex as the Border runs right through the middle of the pub.
Beer selection was a bit naff when visited on Sunday lunch time just the Banks best bitter on offer and only a handful of people in the pub and a table load eating in the restaurant.

4 Jan 2011 17:52

The Black Fox Inn, Milland

Good pub with lovely kept real ale, went for the Triple FFF Altons pride which was in top condition and was served by a pleasent young man. Passed on the Sunday lunch as was in a bit of a rush but would like to try one day as the pub has a lovely warm feeling and friendlyness about it and the food that was being bought out for others looked fantastic. Lovely pub. Will visit again in the near future.

4 Jan 2011 17:49

The Rising Sun, Milland

Yet another overpriced Fullers pub with the usual beer selection, over priced food and yuppie clientele.
Pub is quite basic with a billiards table and restaurant. Much prefer the Black Fox up the road

4 Jan 2011 17:45

The Greenwich Union, Greenwich

Massive fan of Greenwich beers so this place was like Heaven for me.
Visited around 7pm on a Saturday and not too busy but a good atmosphere was had in here. Had a Banana flavoured beer which was in tip top condition and my friends also sampled some other Greenwich beers which were in good nick, well worth the visit if in the area. 8/10

20 Dec 2010 18:01

The Barrowboy and Banker, London Bridge

Been meaning to pop in here for years and finally took the plunge a few weeks back and apart from the nice decor its a Fullers Pub after all so pretty much the same as most of there other pubs, the usual Pride, ESB ect beers on offer, once you have been in 1 Fullers pub you have been in them all.

20 Dec 2010 17:56

Stratton House Hotel, Biggleswade

Good choice to be in the GBG really nice hotel with an excellent bar at reasonable prices, the food looked over priced but as i visited just for a beer i wasnt disapointed. Staffed looked a bit disinterested which lost a mark but apart from that its a decent place for a pint.

19 Dec 2010 11:24

Golden Pheasant, Biggleswade

Apart from being quite small with a load of locals hogging the bar this pub is perfect and the beer choice was unbelievable with all the old pump clips displayed around the pub. 8-9/10

19 Dec 2010 11:22

The Nightingale, Hitchin

Good beer choices but theres something about this pub which doesnt quite feel right, the music was far too loud and there was a load of chavs playing pool and swearing which let the pub down. worth a visit if your stuck at Hitchin station but wouldnt go out of my way to visit.

19 Dec 2010 11:20

The Half Moon, Hitchin

Got to be one of the best pubs i have been in. Its everything i want in a pub, excellent beer, cheap food, friendly staff. Well worth the awards it has one in the past and sure to win many more in the future

19 Dec 2010 11:17

The Talbot, Leamington Spa

Agree with other comments its a super pub with excellent beer choices. Try out the jalapeno flavoured crisps when visiting.

19 Dec 2010 11:15

Green Man, Leamington Spa

Disappointed in this pub, as a GBG pub i expected to find more than 1 real ale and when i visited it at 6pm on a saturday the pub was empty

19 Dec 2010 11:13

Vicars Inn, Arlesey

Popped in on the way to Biggleswade this is one of the coseyist pubs i have ever been in, it has a living room feel to it with 2 real ales and a very friendly landlady

19 Dec 2010 11:11

The Bull Inn, Chichester

Having finally sorted out there beers out (4 real ales on from local mirco brewerys) this pub is back to how it used to be

19 Dec 2010 11:09

The Crown Inn, Nuneaton

10 ales and some belgium beer thrown in.Wasnt expecting much when i popped in here as most station pubs are grotty but not this one!

9 May 2010 13:26

The Tichborne Arms, Tichborne

Nice pub, nice location a good choice of 4 real ales cosy log fire and welcoming bar staff. Worth a visit along with the Flowerpots down the road

9 May 2010 13:24

The Flowerpots Inn, Cheriton

Agree with all the other comments a perfect pub with no bad points well worth the visit if your in and around the area

9 May 2010 13:23

The White Horse Inn, Priors Dean

One of my Favourite pubs i have ever been in. Top class location, 10/10 beer choice a lovely warm feel about the pub, friendly bar staff and locals and nice home cooked food. Didnt have much trouble finding this place after all i did look on Google map before i set off, if not then i may still be driving around. Looking forward to visiting again

9 May 2010 13:21

The Trooper Inn, Froxfield

Thought this was an ok pub, beer selection was nothing special Hogs back Tea and Ringwood but it has a catchy feel about it nice decor and very relaxed feel about the place, sort the beers out and you'll have a top class pub

9 May 2010 13:17

The Wellington, Birmingham

Still as good as ever with 15 ales on, had a cracking pint of aston mild which was 10/10 real good atmosphere at 8 on a saturday night with mixed clients in the pub

9 May 2010 13:15

The Fox Hotel, Wolverhampton

Stayed here a few weeks back not got a lot going for it but one good thing they start serving at 7.30am everyday

5 Apr 2010 02:05

The Murrell Arms, Barnham

If "equitablyaboveboard" thinks the Elmer and Bader in Tangmere is better than either here the 4 chestnuts or the gribble then he must be having a giraffe. People like this should be banned from this site.

31 Mar 2010 15:20

The Ship and Anchor, Ford

Popped in this lunch time and there was one other person in here who looked as tho he was on a flying visit. Its a nice pub but it has a boring feel to it no music or tv was on when i was in there, its the sort of pub that relies on the regulars and the tourists in the summer. At 3.20 a pint of Fosters and just 2 real ales (Ringwood Best and 49er) i wont be hurring back.

31 Mar 2010 15:13

Simeon Arms, Ryde

Friendly welcoming pub with some excellent ales on. Big screen with all the live football on and an excellent mix of all age groups in here. My Favourite pub in Ryde

29 Mar 2010 18:55

The Solent Inn, Ryde

Nothing special about this place pretty average beers and even had the local nutter in here who wouldnt shut up the whole time i was in here (sharron i think her name was?) cant say i'll be rushing back The simeon is by far better around the corner.

29 Mar 2010 18:53

The Falcon Inn, Ryde

Nice dart board and good for the Footie on the TV thats about it

29 Mar 2010 18:50

The Castle, Rowlands Castle

Proper old boozer with the normal Fullers beers, lovely log fires in both bars which were split into a dining area and a normal drinkers bar, plenty of locals in here after work and good friendly banter. Ample parking at the rear and dog friendly. Shall visit agin in the near future

18 Mar 2010 18:01

Turfcutters Arms, East Boldre

Really nice here lovely location and cracking beer really nice home cooked food and a very welcoming young chap behind the bar well worth the visit

18 Mar 2010 17:58

The Black Swan, Pease Pottage

Thought this was a really nice pub just a shame they sell such crap beers in here.
Plenty of people eating in here on a Saturday at 2pm and an excellent looking menu. Loads of parking, quick service and easy to get to.

13 Mar 2010 20:16

Prince Of Wales, Didcot

Popped in here Saturday evening whilst waiting for a connecting train got talking to some friendly people, has a very laid back feel about this place and 3 real ales on as well as cheap food available. I like it.

7 Mar 2010 21:55

The Bear, Maidenhead

Now a Wetherspoons and planning to become a hotel in the future for a new Wetherspoons this is one of the better ones the big bear on the outside is still there and the pub remains quite as it was before Wetherspoons took over by all accounts

7 Mar 2010 21:09

Queen Victoria Inn, Stroud

Nice pub, 4 guest ales all of which i have never seen before, pool table, big tv showing football and a few locals in here. By far the best pub i found in Stroud.

7 Mar 2010 21:05

The Downgate, Hungerford

Totally agree with all the comment s about this place, its an absolute gem of a pub. Really cosy feeling, great beer, great menu, friendly staff plenty of park and set in a wonderful location by the common, shame theres not more pubs like this around.

4 Mar 2010 17:59

The Fishermans Joy, Selsey

Due to open in the Summer due to a fire that has wrecked the pub.

1 Mar 2010 20:42

The Four Chestnuts, Chichester

Been drinking in here for a while now never changes. Went to there beer festival yesterday 20 excellent beers if thats your sort of thing excellent value food as well as big TV with Skysports/ESPN couldnt really ask for much more in a pub.

1 Mar 2010 20:42

The Thoroughbred, Polegate

Another to agree with Chris's comments this isnt a bad pub, couple of real ales from Hammerpot which suprised me, both in well kept condition.
Was a bit taken back by the extra loud Irish women cheering on Ireland rugby team against England on Saturday sort of spoilt the idea of a quiet drink with a mate. Apart from this its a lot better pub inside than it looks from the outside, the smell of curry from a couple of doors along smelt good.

1 Mar 2010 20:39

The Old Court House, Westfield

Visited here on Saturday, 3 real ales on, Harvey's plus 2 guest beers. Thought the pub was decent enough but lacked atmosphere some background music wouldnt go a miss here.
Landlord took the time to welcome us and have a chat about his beers which deserves an extra mark, Bar Billiards and a lovely roasting fire were also a plus point here well worth the visit if in the village.
Also check out the vintage dart scorer by the dart board never seen one of these ever before.

1 Mar 2010 20:33

The Ashburnham Arms, Greenwich

Average SN pub with the usual ales on show, one of the better pubs in the area along a quite residential street not much else really going for it tho.

24 Feb 2010 18:59

The Gipsy Moth, Greenwich

Quite like this pub the beer range was very good and a nice relaxed atmosphere food menu offers a wide range of meals served all day. Polite man behind the bar was willing to help us find our next pub on our crawl through south east london. Worth a quick pint if your going on a river tour or passing

24 Feb 2010 18:57

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, Fleet Street

Agree with the previous comments cracking old historic boozer in the heart of London, the words spit and sawdust really are true about this pub there really is sawdust on the floor.
Beer selection isnt the best but very reasonable prices and such character adds to the olde worldy feeling about this pub which makes it so unlike most of the pubs about these days.

24 Feb 2010 18:54

The Priory Arms, Stockwell

Lovely pub just 5 mins walk from Stockwell tube. Excellent selection of ales and bottle beers with freshly home cooked food to be seen being cooked in the kitchen next to the bar, reminded me very much of the cask pub and kitchen in Pilmico nothing to choose between the 2. Well worth the visit if your passing through on the bus or tube.

24 Feb 2010 18:49

The Old Fountain, Old Street

Cracking pub in an nice location just by Old Street tube station. 8 ales on including a stout and a mild. Suprised to find this empty on a Tuesday lunch time but least it was easy to get served. Can see why this is/has been such high up on this website well worth its place in the top 5. Will visit again.

24 Feb 2010 18:45

Ye Old Mitre, Holborn

1st trip back to the Mitre for a couple of years and not changed much, still cheap bar snacks and witty customers. One thing i did notice was the beer selection wasnt as good as a couple of years ago no strange guest ales just the run of the mill Fullers beers... Pride, Seafarers, Discovery ect

24 Feb 2010 18:42

The Lincoln Arms Hotel, Dorking

A quick half whilst waiting for the train found this was as long as id really want to spend in here. Its not a pub to meet your mates in and get plastered in its more of a convenience stop than anything and at 3.10 a pint it can damage the wallet as well.

14 Feb 2010 10:31

The Surrey Yeoman, Dorking

More of a chain pub than anything. Cheaper than most pubs in Dorking and has plenty of screens for the sport. Id say this is aimed at the younger generation

14 Feb 2010 10:28

The Old House At Home, Dorking

Not bad, friendly staff, sky sports and newspapers to pass the time away the menu looked cheap and cheerful and the lager selection wasnt bad either.
Been in a lot worse.

14 Feb 2010 10:26

The Kings Arms, Dorking

Horrible place, beer selection isnt too bad but it has a dull and dire feel to the place.
When i visited on a Saturday morning i found the barman racing a remoted controlled car around the pub with his mates and also turning the music up and down like he was dj'ing in a night club.
Would not visit again as there's better pubs nearby than this

14 Feb 2010 10:24

The George and Dragon Inn, Chichester

Expensive prices 3.80 for a pint of lager freezing cold and empty and no atmosphere, everything you dont want from a pub.

8 Jan 2010 11:33

The Old Cross, Chichester

Popped in yesterday evening and was suprised to look around and see 3 other people in the bar ordered a large bacardi and coke and a fosters and didnt see much change out of a tenner served by a polite young women but at the prices they charge in here i could see why the place was empty wont be rushing back for a while

8 Jan 2010 11:31

Slug and Lettuce, Eastbourne

Now Wetherspoons London & County

30 Dec 2009 17:23

The Eagle, Eastbourne

Popped in this afternoon on passing, been meaning to go in for a while and wasnt let down 4 real ales on pump had a pint of 1648 ginger NO1 little bit too strong tasting for my liking (after several pints in Wetherspoons) but still well kept and even got served in a jug, pool table in here 50p a game and sky sports. One of the beeter pubic houses in the 'Bourne'

30 Dec 2009 17:22

The Railway View, Macclesfield

Agree with the last comment apart from the last bit the pub was empty from 1.30 until 2.50 when i was here for the Macclesfield Daggers game, Beer range was excellent, with simple pub snacks hot dogs and pies and live football on the box. The landlord was welcoming and the youngish chap working behind the bar. Highly Recommend this pub.

3 Nov 2009 15:52

The Ranch House, Morecambe

This is the weirdest pub in the GBG i have been in its a cross between Charlie Chalks playground and a Wild West Ranch its tacky, dirty and the beer is terrible which isnt a suprise as when i was in on a saturday afternoon there was only 1 other person in there so the beer doesnt get drunk as quick as it should i guess.

3 Nov 2009 15:46

The Crofton, Stubbington

Lovely 2 room pub excellent ales and even had Bud on tap best pub in the area by far

3 Nov 2009 15:40

The Brunswick Inn, Derby

One of the best pubs i have been in the beer selection was amazing the prices cheap and the friendliness of the staff and locals were spot on i just wish i was there a week later as there annual beer festival is in a weeks time

27 Sep 2009 18:39

The Kelham Island Tavern, Sheffield

Having been a local at the Royal Oak in Rusper (national camra runner up) i was dying to try this pub to see how much better it was than the Royal Oak on walking along the road the pub looks excellent from the outside and on walking inside it was too bad but what did strike me was the cold dull feeling this pub has...the beer selection was quite superb and the food looked yummy but i found this place to be more of a tourist attraction than a genuine pub i perfer the fat cat around the corner as it has more of a proper pub feeling than this.

27 Sep 2009 18:36

The Fat Cat, Sheffield

This to me is far better than the Kelham round the corner this has more character and a really nice warm feeling to this pub the people drinking in there arnt tourists and i found the beer selection slightly better as well

27 Sep 2009 18:32

North Star, Worthing

This pub is truly shocking! The food is either under cooked or burnt. The staff are all young chavs who are more interested in mucking about with the landlord who is also completly useless. No managerment skills and is more interested in chatting up and getting drunks with the female visitors than actually managaing a pub. This pub has gone down hill in the last 12 months...It is looking worn and old. The staff are useless, food is rubbish and the music is so loud you cant have a converstation! Time for a new landlord I think!

3 Sep 2009 20:17

The Ram Inn, Firle

Hikers pub which is more suited for a stop off for a walk across the downs.
3 ales as last stated from person below and a boring food menu which would suit a pensioners outing from Selsey Bill

3 Sep 2009 20:01

The Kings Head, Lewes

Average Nothing else to comment on

3 Sep 2009 19:58

The Juggs Arms, Kingston

More of a food pub but we did have a lovely pint of Shephards Neame Kingston which is brewed for this pub nice setting in a lovely village

3 Sep 2009 19:57

The Hope Inn, Newhaven

Cheap food couple of ales and lovely views across the Port. Handy for Newhaven FC but its a little trek from the station on a rainy day

3 Sep 2009 19:55

The Ark Inn, Newhaven

2 Real ales Pride and Harveys more of a youngsters hang out than a pub

3 Sep 2009 19:53

The Jolly Boatman, Newhaven

Friendly locals excellent kept ales and a warm feeling to this pub. Best pub in Newhaven by a mile.

3 Sep 2009 19:52

The Bowl Inn, Charing

Gem of a pub in a wonderful location, the beer selection wasnt the best 3 real ales on but the location is perfect, also not this pub has a hexagonal shaped pool table which i have never seen and probably never will in a pub.

3 Sep 2009 19:51

The Farmhouse, Horley

Cant disagree with the last review still no Guest ale and over priced food also noted the music was rather loud when i visited on Tuesday evening which put me off having another pint

3 Sep 2009 19:47

The Hikers Rest, Brighton

Good pub for a beer if your in the area and enjoy looking at Football clubs memorabilia thats about it the pub itself doesnt have much going for it

3 Sep 2009 19:45

The Porter and Sorter, Croydon

Still as good as ever good beer range and customers and good priced food and drink.

3 Sep 2009 19:43

The Lord Clyde, Borough

Poor beer range as stated in the last review and a average pub with nothing really going for it in my opinion. Any pub that shows Racing UK during the day doesnt deserve to be in the Top 40 on this site

3 Sep 2009 19:42

The Bree Louise, Euston

This is in my top 10 pubs in London the beer selection is one of the best i have seen in the capital and the fact they do ales straight out the barrel is something ive never seen in London before. The food menu looked excellent and there was a good mixture of punters drinking here, will visit again when i get off the train at Euston

3 Sep 2009 19:40

The Bermuda Triangle, Parkstone

Popped in on Monday and after reading the reviews about this pub i was expecting this to be a right 'gem' but i was a little disapointed they had a very average real ale selection and the pub itself isnt anything different from most other pubs noting out of the ordinary.

3 Sep 2009 19:34

Royal Oak, Lewes

Lovely little pub 5 real ales on tap cheap and tasty food and friendly barstaff, by far not the worse pub in lewes

20 Jul 2009 17:49

Trevor Arms, Glynde

Visited yesterday for the first time and it was a let down. On entering the pub it was packed full of people enjoying Sunday Roast but when we went into the bar there was not a soul in there, the barmaid was busy on her mobile to her Ex Boyfriend, had a pint of Harveys which wasnt the best then had a pint of Olympia which was off.
In an hour only 2 people came in for a drink which was rather odd for a sunday lunchtime.
Wont be rushing back in a hurry as theres much better pubs down the road in Lewes.

20 Jul 2009 17:45

The Marquess of Exeter, Brighton

Over priced Beer and Food, Unwelcoming Bar Staff, The Prestonville is much better

12 Jul 2009 13:28

The Hollist Arms, Lodsworth

Visited with the Western Sussex Camra Group a few weeks ago and was rather let down, 3 real ales understaffed and unpleasent unhelpful staff at that.
The pub looks a picture from the outside but inside its a massive let down with the layout and over priced beer and food

9 Jul 2009 21:46

The Royal Oak, Wood Street

Agree with all the other comments cosy village in with excellent beer selection and a relaxed atmosphere only bad point i had about this place was the music was being played rather loud but maybe it was my disliking to Queen that made me feel like this. Worth the visit if your in the surrounding area as theres not much other pubs as good as this in the area

9 Jul 2009 21:39

The Prince of Wales, Farnborough

I was expecting high things of this place when i heard it was Hampshire Pub Of The Year but when entering i was suprised how dull and boring it looked the beer selection was excellent with 9 ales on at my time of visiting i had a pint of East Berks Mild which was superb but other than the beer selection it didnt really do a lot for me.

9 Jul 2009 21:36

The Good Intent, Puttenham

Lovely little pub just off the A31 6 real ales with Langhams Hip Hop available plenty of people eating Fish & Chips last night and a mixture of locals and Ramblers. Well worth the visit

9 Jul 2009 21:33

The Kings Head, Alton

Not quite worthy of being in the GBG but i was suprised to find a nice pint of Hammerpot Red Hunter. Pretty much your run of the mill Town Center pub tho

5 Jul 2009 11:29

The Eight Bells, Alton

Agree with the last comment.
Lovely warm feeling to this pub as well, only down fall was the Language of the rather 'large' Barmaid working which put me off a little.

5 Jul 2009 11:27

The Railway Arms, Alton

Thought this was the best of the 3 pubs i visited yesterday the other 2 were the 8 bells and Kings Head 6 real ales on 5 were Alton which you'd expect from a Brewery owned pub had a nice pint of Mild (pressed Rat) which was really really well kept. Friendly Locals but the Barmaid wasnt the friendyist but the pub was quite busy.

5 Jul 2009 11:26

The Crown, Chiddingfold

Over priced Hotel... not your average place to stop off for a quick pint and cheesey chips on the way home from a busy day at the office this reminds me of the Spread Eagle in Midhurst, over priced and full yuppies, nice place tho.

10 Jun 2009 17:45

The Swan Inn, Falmer

Better than i thought, popped in for a drink when passing last Friday 3 room pub with a 2 dinning areas and 1 bar area 3 different real ales on and cheap food friendly bar staff and locals where there was a mixture of older people and students.
Will pop back nearer to when the ground is finish to see if there any change about letting football fans in.

26 May 2009 11:31

The Sir Roger Titchbourne, Alfold Bars

Everything about this place is false, the bar staff are trying too hard to make an impression, the food prices are way too over the top and the place doesnt feel one bit like a public house.
Im glad i visited when it opened as i'll be coming back in a year or so's time to see if it has changed to more of a pub than a newly built country cottage.

27 Apr 2009 10:51

The Alexandra Arms, Kettering

Best pub i've visited for a long time, the sea of pump clips everywhere is just outstanding and the choose of beers in something else, will go a long way to find a better pub than this in the area.

27 Apr 2009 10:46

Stockport Arms, Stockport

Was taken to this pub by the sign saying St Georges day meal 4.75 so gave it a try and for the price i wasnt expecting much but the meal was excellent value and the beer was reasonably well priced so couldnt ask for much more, would visit again if i was in the area.

27 Apr 2009 10:41

The Crown and Kettle, Ancoats

Another good pub along the Real Ale Circuit in Manchester, 4 real ales, 2 Greenfields, cheap food, mixture of young and old drinkers and friendly bar staff, did have a sign on the door saying no 'hoodies or tracksuit bottom' so bare this in mind

27 Apr 2009 10:38

The Smithfield Hotel, Manchester

Looks rubbish from the outside but quality on the inside, 8 real ales lots of bottle beers and cheap prices as well next time i come to Manchester i'll be giving this a try instead of the Travelodge along the road, possibly my second fav pub in the City behind the MA around the corner.

27 Apr 2009 10:35

The Castle Hotel, Manchester

Popped in last week for a bottle of old tom choc beer the overall beer selection was ok but thats all it had going for it, place needs a make over inside and out

27 Apr 2009 10:31

The Jolly Angler, Manchester

Took one step in and walked out not a sole to be seen dark and dingy pub bloke behind the bar looked asleep watching the tv, such a let down after reading some of the reviews on here

27 Apr 2009 10:29

The Norfolk Arms, Roffey

Not really my type of pub, large screens with the F1 blasting out and no one watching, very poor typical Hall and Woodhouse beers and kids running about can't say i'll be rushing back in a hurry

27 Apr 2009 10:26

The Half Moon, Crawley

Friendly enough pub but more of a sports pub than anything else. The beer and food were cheap enough tho.

27 Apr 2009 10:24

The Foresters Arms, Horsham

Visited this pub yesterday lunchtime for a sunday lunch, lovely well cooked leg of lamb with all the trimmings and cauliflower cheese to die for, beer selection was good and service and waiter we had were second to none, will be heading back sooner rather than later.

27 Apr 2009 10:23

The City Arms, Manchester

Nice pub but didnt expect this to be in the top 40 on this site as its not that good, service was good and a mixture of friendly locals made this worth visiting.

27 Apr 2009 10:20

The Marble Arch, Manchester

10 real ales, its own brewery, home cooked food couldnt ask for much better...and the MA Ginger beer wasnt bad either

27 Apr 2009 10:18

The Dovetail, Clerkenwell

One of Londons hidden secrets this place.

Never seen so many different Belgium bottles beers in my life time.

Well worth seeking out if your in London

6 Apr 2009 18:47

The Red Lion, Weymouth

If you like kids running around the place while your trying to have a drink/meal then this is the place for you.
Rubbish pub.

1 Apr 2009 18:10

The Boot, Weymouth

Best pub in Weymouth by a mile loads of real ale friendly locals and a relaxed atmosphere about the place

1 Apr 2009 18:07

The Barley Mow, Epsom

Average fullers pub with no differance to any of the other pubs they own, cant say ill be rushing back in a hurry

1 Apr 2009 18:05

The Well House Inn, Mugswell

Lovely pub, warm cosy feeling, 3-4 excellent really ales on, nice beer garden and in a lovely location would visit again

1 Apr 2009 18:04

The Watch House, Lewisham

In my top 5 worst 'Spoons' of all time has nothing going for this at all the area is terrible the pub is terrible and not a single person around this area knew where the pub was

27 Mar 2009 20:47

The London and Rye, Catford

Typical JDW say no more

27 Mar 2009 20:45

The Blue Anchor, Portslade

Find it hard to take any positives about this place the beer was 2.80 a pint and it has lovely Landscape Photograph of Brighton Pier/Beach along one wall.
The other hand its a rough scummy pub full of riff raff with music so loud you cant even talk without shouting. 1 Real Ale.
Not forgetting the rabbit in its hutch.
On Par with the Jamaica Inn not far away

27 Mar 2009 20:32

The Cat Inn, West Hoathly

Beer selection Crap, Food Expensive, Lovely looking pub inside and out say no more...

27 Mar 2009 20:28

The Cricketers, Broadwater

Got to be a contender for next years GBG, 4 excellent real ales on when i was in there on saturday, friendly locals, friendly staff, one of the better pubs in Worthing.

16 Mar 2009 18:34

The Crown, Midhurst

Now Closed

16 Mar 2009 18:31

The Three Moles Inn, Selham

Not changed much since the new people took over, things just dont feel the same here since Val left :-(

16 Mar 2009 18:31

The Seven Sisters, Seaford

Rubbish beer selection... Harveys, Spitfire and IPA. Cant see this being in next years GBG unless they have to have 1 pub from Seaford in there.
Pub itself isnt bad, quite big with a nice dinning area, sports room with pool darts and a tv in the other bar, food menu looked appealing but the beer selection spoiled the overall markings for this pub.
Won't be rushing back in a hurry.

14 Mar 2009 11:09

The Coach and Horses, Clapham

Now open again

8 Mar 2009 13:09

Leyton Orient Supporter's Club, Leyton

Extremely busy before a match day which was the only downfall about this place but Camra Club of the Year 2008 say no more.

8 Mar 2009 13:00

The Coach and Horses, Leyton

Massive football pub with Sky TV, hasnt really got a lot going for it but what pubs in this area have?

8 Mar 2009 12:58

The Cissbury Tap, Findon Valley

Now under new management and now called The Valley Bar a dart board has been put up with Sky TV so the aim is to try and attract the younger generation and seems to be working as its a lot busier than it used to be

8 Mar 2009 12:57

The Bax Castle, Horsham

Still as good as ever, lovely pint of Wychwood Dirty Tackle but the resturant was empty which put off eating in there not many pubs like this in the area so worth checking out

8 Mar 2009 12:55

The Old Mill (Dunnings Mill), East Grinstead

Lovely pub with an excellent layout. 4 Harveys beers on last night, friendly barmaid excellent home cooked food couldnt ask for much more

8 Mar 2009 12:52

The Richmal Crompton, Bromley

Massive Lloyds bar with no Atmosphere looked more of a nightclub than a pub with the Dancefloor and DJ equiment spattered round the place.

1 Mar 2009 11:52

The Tom Foolery, Bromley

Not sure why people are saying this is expensive 3 a pint is about average nowadays in fact i had a Discovery in here which was 3 and next door in the Partridge a pint of Jack Frost was 3.05 and the food looked better in this pub than next door

1 Mar 2009 11:51

The Partridge, Bromley

Not a bad pub, sky sports, well kept Fuller beers and lovely decor prefer the Tom Foolery tho

1 Mar 2009 11:49

The Sovereign of the Seas, Petts Wood

Average say no more

1 Mar 2009 11:47

The Harvest Moon, Orpington

One of the better Wetherspoons with more choise of real ale than in most, pubs in Orpington look vast, the 15 minute walk here from the station took me past just one pub which was the one outside the station

1 Mar 2009 11:46

The Royal Oak, Borough

Harveys Lewes Castle Brown Ale, cant say i've ever seen that before not even in Lewes.
Thought it was spit and sawdust this pub but very well kept beer and friendly locals, like the way the pubs split in two as well.

1 Mar 2009 11:44

The Sussex Ox, Milton Street

Excellent village pub in a senic location off the beaten track, friendly staff and the food menu looked really appealing.
Had an excellent pint of Dark Star IPA also had Crouch Vales Brewers Gold. Beer garden looks pleasent for a visit in the summer time and has a massive car park. Will be back again soon.

25 Feb 2009 17:08

Ye Olde Smugglers Inn, Alfriston

Poor pub, 4 real ales, very dark and very empty and very expensive say no more

25 Feb 2009 17:04

The Rake, London Bridge

Market Porter or the Rake? Got to be the Rake for me now, over 130 different beers from everywhere with 2/3 Dark Star seasonal beers on the handpumps. Service was 10/10 and it has a pleasant little beer garden, doesnt look nothing special from the outside but inside beer drinkers paradice. Handy to know it opens at 10am.
Will visit again in the near future

23 Feb 2009 17:50

The Laughing Fish, Isfield

I went to this pub last night and can honestly say i was really looking forward to visiting this but as soon as i saw it was a GK pub i knew it was going to be rubbish.
The beer selection was nothing more than average for a GBG listed pub, there wasnt a sole in there eating and the young chief was stood by the entrance and couldnt even say hello, the young barmaid couldnt muster a hello or thank you when serving and was more interested telling the locals about her weekend.
There was also a cold feeling to this pub even tho the fire was on.
Wont be rushing back for a while as the Cock Inn is much much better than this pub.

18 Feb 2009 17:18

The Village House Hotel, Findon

Nothing more than a very average pub. The beer selection is nothing to rave about and nor is the food menu, worth popping in if your having a few drinks in the Village but with John Henrys and the Snooty Fox this doesnt come close to them 2 pubs.

16 Feb 2009 18:59

The Coach and Horses, Clapham

Now shut but not sure for how long.

16 Feb 2009 18:52

The Countryman, Shipley

Agree with the last comment totally such a warm friendly and cosy pub. One of the best pubs around the area.

12 Feb 2009 16:09

The White Horse, Maplehurst

I never get bored of visiting this pub, such a warm feeling for such an old building, friendly staff and the beer selection is 10/10 and the house cider isnt bad either.
One of the top pubs in the South of England.

12 Feb 2009 16:07

The Dun Horse, Mannings Heath

Landlord was wondering why this pub isnt in the good beer guide anymore, maybe if you drop the price of a pint and have more than 2 real ales available (Hobgoblin and Harverys) then you might just get picked again, other than that a very average pub.

12 Feb 2009 16:05

The Bull Inn, Mockbridge

Over rated, beer was expensive, food was over priced and this showed as there was not a soul to be seen in the pub on a Monday lunchtime certainly wouldnt be rushing back there in a hurry.

12 Feb 2009 16:03

The Duke Of Wellington, Shoreham by Sea

Over rated Dark Star pub that has been on the slide for a while now, beer selection is nowhere near as good as a couple of years back when it first opened and this shows by how quiet it is nowdays, maybe its the Credit Crunch but on the other hand why is the Buckingham always heaving?

8 Feb 2009 16:00

The Buckingham Arms, Shoreham by Sea

9 real ales on when i was in serveral weeks back couldnt ask for a better pub.

8 Feb 2009 15:57

The Gardeners Arms, Lewes

Not changed much in here but not as good as the Brewers... 4 real ales on yesterday when i popped in, wasnt as busy as normal but still took ages to get served after the Barman had finished writting out his Betting slips for the day.
The pub food looked rather iffy sat behind the bar not covered, i was wondering how long the Pork Pies and Sausage rolls had been sat there as they didnt look the freshest peices of food ive ever seen but i am no Chief.
Worth the visit but will not be rushing back.

8 Feb 2009 15:56

Lewes Arms, Lewes

Gone right downhill since my last visit in the summer.
Beer selection is still good but nowhere near as good 6-8 months ago.
Pride, Sussex Best, ESB, Woodfords Wherry and Harverys Mild.
3 for a pint of Woodfords Wherry is Crazy, Barstaff have no conversation and the Atmosphere seems to have been lost from this once great pub

8 Feb 2009 15:49

The Crown Inn, Lewes

Terrible place, not seen Toilets like this place since i was in Hungry last year.

8 Feb 2009 15:46

The Brewers Arms, Lewes

Now the best pub in Lewes, top beer selection, cheap food, quick service and friendly locals.

8 Feb 2009 15:45

The Wheatsheaf, Shedfield

Visited yesterday was suprised how friendly the pub was, lovely warm feeling about it ( nice log fire roaring) and 5 real ales available and at reasonable prices as well (2.30-2.50) a proper pub as the saying goes.
Well worth the visit if your in the area.

25 Jan 2009 11:52

The Coach and Horses, Clapham

Now back on track at last and getting busier by the day.
Food is freshly cooked and beer prices have dropped, 3 regular ales on IPA Harveys and Speckled Hen. Live Music every friday. Worth a trip back if you havent been for a good few months.

11 Jan 2009 23:32

Was there last night, was quite a good pub, food was cheap and nice, friendly people in there as well one of the better pubs in the area.

7 Jan 2009 17:22

The Weir Hotel, Walton on Thames

Popped in today before the Walton Casuals game, 4 nice ales on tap along with hogarden and perroni.
Pub was quite busy with people dining and food looking rather nice, friendly landlord who was rather chatty and on the ball when people came in for drinks.
Well worth the visit.

8 Nov 2008 22:04

Really cosy pub with friendly barstaff and locals. Shall be visiting there soon to check out the Sausages ;-)

7 Oct 2008 17:04

The Churchillian, Portsmouth

5 average ales, food looked basic and barstaff didnt look interested, the only good thing going for this pub is the views... even then it was raining and couldnt see much!!

7 Oct 2008 17:02

Not too bad but has that modern feel about the place and beer prices quite high but food looked good

4 Sep 2008 17:08

Trotters, Harrogate

On our way up to follow my cousins, friends, barmans, brothers, mates, mate, clive's horse at Cartmel, we decided to stop off in this establishment on entering it looks like a scene from beethoven the film with big dogs jumping and humping all over each other like ron jeremy and the milf hunter doing barby and sammy babes creampie style. At the bar we asked for a round of 51 Lattes and a pint of pear kopperberg for charlie as he'd been up the night with the runnies after a dodgy lamb barry auntie down the selsey magna, we must of been in here about 16 hours waiting to get served when we realised we was going to miss the race so we all turned into radio 4 on the medium wave only to hear that our horse ridden by Liam Treadwell had fallen at the first so as we steamed back onto the sunshine bus we headed back home to sunny sussex by the sea!

4 Sep 2008 15:49

Chinnery's, Southend on Sea

Cheap Pool which is about the only thing going for this pub in the afternoon, definatly a place to visit in the evening not the afternoon

Will be back very soon.

2 Jul 2008 18:12

The Coach and Horses, Clapham

26 May 2008 13:08

Ye John Seldon, Worthing

Gone slightly down hill of late you only seem to fit in if your a local here.
The beer is very pricey but what pubs arnt?
Food is very basic and not cheap either!
Good meat raffle on a Sunday but beware the pub shuts at lunchtimes (get with the times and stay open all day).

26 May 2008 13:07

The Coach and Horses, Clapham

Terrible, overpriced Belgiam type bar in the middle of nowhere. Not how it used to be many moons back. Not sure how long it will stay open for as you can't run a pub with no custom.
Rude and unhelpful barmaid!

AVOID!

26 May 2008 12:56

The Trout, Goring By Sea

Under new Management and now called the Trout, seems to have gone downhill big style, only 3 people in the bar at 6.30 on a Saturday night avoid as much better pubs around the area than this.

26 May 2008 12:51

The Queens Head, Horsham

Nice pub, beer selection is poor but excellently kept beer makes up for this.
Luchtime food was nice Cheesey Chips and Jacket Potatoe and Beans with big portions!

26 May 2008 12:46

The Shelley Arms, Broadbridge Heath

26 May 2008 12:42

The Horse and Groom, Horsham

Beer (Spitfire) was excellent and the food looked good value as well barmaid was friendly but the locals in there looked as tho they had been sat there for the last 20 years without moving

26 May 2008 12:39

Ye Old Stout House, Horsham

Half decent pub but as with all H&W pubs the beer lets it down big style

The Bear, Horsham

Cosy pub but thats all thats good about it

2 Jan 2008 15:54

The Seafield Inn, Hove

Is that Sammybabes whos related is Deigo Forlan?

2 Jan 2008 15:50

The Bell, Hove

Agree with Nignog Death trap of a pub shall not be visiting again.
I think Nignog forgot to add about the food, i ordered Scampi in a basket and the Scampi was so under cooked im sure i saw the Scampi wink at me!!!
Beer tasted like it had just been scooped out of the sea and the barman looked liked Barry Chuckle and had as much brains as him as well!
Avoid!!!!!!!!

2 Jan 2008 15:31

The Bright Helm, Brighton

Last Saturday me and the Girlies came to Brighton on a Hen party from Chasetown to which we had a wild time!
Reason im writing this is to warn all you girls of a barman who works here who goes by the name of Frunk...Frunk was serving me when he became very flirty and as the evening went on things got rather steamy. Everytime i ordered a drink Frunk kept putting Double Plymouth Gins into my Speckled Hen's which made me rather tipsy! Come the end of the night i had legs like jelly and couldnt see no more than 3 foot infront of me this is where Frunk finished his shift and sort of took advantage of me by inviting me back to his place in Hanover! Things got very heated in his place (which i won't go into detail) but i woke up with a rather big hangover and the hamdams and left while Frunk was still asleep!
I'm writing this to worn other girls of this barman and to say i bet he gets upto things like this everynight of the week!
If anyone knows Frunk or if your reading this get in touch because i think i maybe pregnant with your baby!

Beware

2 Jan 2008 15:24

The Crown, Alfold

Called in there yesterday for Sunday Lunch was very impressed with the food and the price of it and the beer i had (Old Trip) was very well kept!
Shall be paying another visit in the near future

25 Jun 2007 18:47

The Hand In Hand, Brighton

Visited this for Derby day a few weeks back and had a nice fruit beer (4.50 a pint) chilled out, laid back atmosphere in the sun but the only thing that lets this down was a chavy barmaid who must of went by the name of sapphire, who was always on her phone and was very loud but dont let this put you off as she was quite good looking!
All in all nice pub with excellent beers!

21 Jun 2007 21:24

The Willoughby Arms, Kingston Upon Thames

Went to this pub before AFC Wimbledon v Worthing game yesterday and was very impressed. 2 large screens. 1 showing football and other showing rugby.
Lots of signed footie shirts on the walls which was interesting and the beer was 10/10 2 guest ales(Archers and Twickenham) only down fall this pub had was a very miserable barmaid with tattoos and peircings everywhere who took ages to serve us each time we went to the bar!
Worth a visit if your in the area!!

18 Mar 2007 11:03

The Jolly Farmer, Bramley

Stopped off in here yesterday on the way back from Guildford. Parking is no problem there is a car park at the rear of this pub!
Only stopped for 1 which was a pint of becks which is quite rare as you only tent to come across the bottled stuff, 3 a pint was alittle steep but it is 2006 not 1999!
The pub itself is excellent it has god knows how many beer pump clips which shows this pub has a very wide range of ales the food we didnt have because they had stopped serving even tho it was 3pm on a sunday afternoon!
What did put me off was the fact there was 6-7 kids running around this pub which made it feel a tad uncomfortable other than that i would visit again even if it means driving the 35 miles to this pub

4 Sep 2006 22:46

The Hen and Chicken, Southwater

Excellent little pub in which me and te missus drove to the other night for a meal i had the Surf and Turf and she had the home made Sweet and Sour Chicken both were very well priced and the portions were very big, the beer itself was nice i had a pint of WJ Kings. The pub itself is very small and being a Thursday it was quite quiet which made it cosy!
I would return back to this pub which is 14 miles from where i live even just for a drink if not another meal!
Well recommended!

4 Sep 2006 22:39

The Three Moles Inn, Selham

Excellent small pub which has become my so called "local" Val the landlady knows her beer and it has 5 real ale handpumps which 4 are from micro brewerys and are ever changing around and the other is Skinners Betty Stogs which is on throughout the year!
No food is served her and no music is played which makes it a quiet little boozer to sit down read the paper and enjoy a pint!
A must for any real ale drinker!
