The Dog and Bell, Deptford

cracking little pub. Went back there the other day for first time in a while. Great pint of Farmers Ale and a couple of games of bar billiards. Good place to spend a Sunday.

Bradleys, Fitzrovia

This place is a dive, in the very best sense of the word. Last looks like it was decorated (or properly cleaned for that matter) in 1972 but all the more charming for it. Great jukebox featuring among others The Ramones, Joy Division, Marlena Shaw and Sly and The Family Stone. The only drawbacks are the expense (but then you are a stone's throw away from Oxford St) and the fact that it gets crowded quickly (although you can spill out onto the street in the summer). My girlfriend was here the other night, and she swears she saw Ronnie Wood here.

The Dog and Bell, Deptford

Was slightly discouraged by the dimly lit street leading to the Dog and Bell, but was more than glad I made the trip. The sort of pub that is usually prefixed with the words decent and proper. Decent beers, Shoreditch Stout which was a new one to me, and a local feel. Didn't have any food, but saw that it was possible to order 5 oysters for under a fiver, so maybe next time. Reading the reviews below, I hope they put on another pickle festival, sounds perfect.

The Oval Tavern, Croydon

I've never been here, but it's the pub that Mark and Jeremy go to in Peep Show. So that's a recommendation of sorts.

The Dykes End, Reach

I am very surprised to see that this pub has such a low rating. It is a beautiful pub in a beautiful location, with tables overlooking the village green. Well worth a visit for a lazy summer drink. My mates rave about the food too, but I have never eaten here.

The St Radegund, Cambridge

A great pub. Small dark, none of the usual chalkboards and fruit machines etc... Genuine character. Last time I was there you could get a Black Russian for 2.50 as well.
