Elbowroom, Islington

Fairly Hopeless. The kind of compromise place that pleases nobody you end up at if you're in a large indecisive group. The pool is pricey.

Apparently if you're less blind than me you can vaguely see into the ladies from the gents.

The Tabard, Turnham Green

Comfortable. Friendly. One of my favourite pubs (probably biased since it used to be my local). God knows how much money I've fed into the quiz machine over the years.

Belied its old man status on my last visit by being rammed with what seemed like every pissed up posh kid in West London. Reminded me of being in the White Hart in the nineties - Trish would serve anybody who could see over the bar.

The Prince Regent, Herne Hill

Worth checking out the Tuesday night quiz (20.00) - Phil the quizmaster has a good line in embarrassingly awful 'banter' - a sort of camp David Brent.

Also worth browsing the 50p books sold by the local Green Party, sometimes have some good stuff amongst the Mills and Boon.

Generally a nice enough pub. Haven't tried the pricey food.

The Hamilton Arms, Brixton

Used to be a top pub. Now an overpriced food and wine. Doubly annoying since I've just moved in round the corner.
