The Mischief, Norwich

Very quiet on a Monday evening and it lacked any atmosphere as others have described. Only two draft beers; the Adnams was passable.

The Ribs of Beef, Norwich

Tried this pub on a Sunday night when they had some live music playing. The music was so so but the beer (Banker's Draft) and service were great. Nice atmosphere.

The Plumbers Arms, Chester

Sought out this pub one lunchtime and was a little disappointed. Beer was very good but the large plasma screens on the wall were playing MTV (or something similar) and dominated the small bar areas. I wouldnt have minded if the rugby or football was on, but MTV?? Didnt stay for a second pint.

The Brewery Tap, Chester

My wife and I visited this pub in early September and we very much enjoyed an evening there. It was not at all what we were expecting. The rooms are open and airy with wood carvings and wall hangings. Tables were big with room to spread out and relax. The beer was very good and we thought the food (Steak pie and pork sausages) was tasty and reasonably priced. We skipped desert as we were both too full. We had no complaints about the service either. Thoroughly recommended

Britannia Inn, Headington

Very busy which is always a good sign, however it can be difficult to get served. I am told the food is good and it seems popular. Beer is variable in quality, dependent upon what is currently being stocked. Worth a stop if passing but but don't take a detour.

The White Hart, Headington

The best pub in the area for beer and atmosphere. Avoid the London Road and come here.

The Black Boy, Headington

Still have high hopes for this place but my visits here have been disapointing. Food OK but not as good as they seem to think it is, beer not prominant (but beer festival coming soon so lets see) and atmosphere lacking.

For a pint try the White Hart 50 yds away, sorry but its much better for drinking.

The White Horse, Oxford

Good pub and my favourite when in town. If you have the whole family with you then try somwhere bigger!

Hobgoblin, Oxford

Good pub but can lack atmosphere if you go out of peak times. Recommended for a pint and a chat. Good Juke box

The Oxford Blue, Oxford

Good for sport on the TV (impossible to miss all the screens) but the student crowd can dominate.

The Lamb and Flag, Oxford

Good pub and part of any pub crawl around the city.

The Eagle and Child, Oxford

As other reviews say; the front rooms are good the rest of the bar at the back lack atmosphere. Forget Tolkein, this pub could be anywhere. Try the Lamb and Flag opposite instead.

The Bear, Oxford

I like this pub but after a while all the ties on the walls become wearing. If you want to see the sights of Oxford by all means include it but there are better places to spend the evening.

The Angel and Greyhound, Oxford

Still a good pub and is recommended if you are in this side of town. Always has a good crowd too. Too expensive to rate it higher than 7

The Butchers Arms, Headington

This pub was once the best in Headington but is now nothing to be recommended. As expensive as always but without the atmosphere. After a long period of ambivalent management the pub is empty and rightly so. Beer is OK.

The Railway, Wheatley

I can't believe the other comments. I went here in the summer and thought it was a dive!

The White Hart, Headington

We stopped going here for a while because of the unfriendly service and complete lack of atmosphere. However, better bar staff and good beer has returned it to its former status. Recommended
