The Beacon, Madeley

Under new management. Had a lick of paint and tidied up. Now has a couple of hand-pulls serving real ale. Usually Courage Best plus another rotating guest. Some entertainment at weekends. Landlady seems to be attempting to turn this pub around. Good effort so far!

19 Jun 2014 11:25

The Punch Bowl Inn, Bridgnorth

Has got to be the best value carvery in the area. Not the cheapest but certainly value for money. Always very busy and booking is essential. Usually 3 changing decent real ales on

6 Dec 2013 16:35

The Newbold Comyn Arms, Leamington Spa

Visited again over the weekend (as we Masters Swimmers usually do this time of year) Decent beers on Oakham JHB, Dartmoor Legend, Everards Malty Tasker as well as local Long Itch Backscratcher all on good form.
Sunday Lunch very nice and Saturday evening catering for our party of 65 with a hot buffet was very well received.
See you again next April

The Red Lion, Kings Heath

I have visited this pub on a regular (before or after Swim training at Camp Hill Edwardians SC across the road) basis since 1978 and can honestly say the quality and selection of the real ales has never been so high. The staff are always welcoming and the discounts and offers for CAMRA members well received. Well done Ember Inns and the local management for making this place a joy to visit.

The Woodbridge Inn, Telford

Wow! What a transformation, hardly recognise this place from what it was before. Very busy Thursday night whith diners and drinkers. 6 or 7 real ales on on top form, mainly local - Ironbridge Gold, Shropshire lad, Three Tuns XXX, Shropshire Gold etc.
Didn't eat from the extensive menu which although pricey did look to be good value from what we saw being delivered to tables - we will next time
A great referb and a great addition to the area

2 Nov 2012 17:42

The George and Dragon, Much Wenlock

Great little pub with great selection of proper beer.... 6X, Tribute, Doom Bar, Abbot & Youngs... 6X on fine form. A change to find a pub these days with classic beers rather than the usual run of the mill poorer quality so called "Locale" often found these days.

23 Jun 2012 09:44

The Foresters Arms, Madeley

Under new management and this couple have sorted out the food as well as keeping the best beer around. Ever changing local brews as well as the Salopian Brewery "classics". Always 5 Ales on. Food served everyday and of very high quality including Sunday lunches. Decent entertainment on some weekends and always a very welcoming greeting. Always a great place for the odd one or a session!
This pub is going from strength to strength - well done Phil & Di

18 Jun 2012 11:59

The Lion Inn, Telford

Re-visited for an evening meal after heard it had changed hands. 4 real ales on including Black Sheep on fine form. Chose from a limited, little over-priced menu, the steak was OK the Chicken well presented, blue cheese sauce over priced at 1.50. Homemade chips, decent veg except for TINNED PEAS! What!?
As before, a decent enough experience (except for TINNED PEAS) but nothing exceptional - again I won't be rushing back!

18 Jun 2012 11:50

King William IV, Ripon

Bit basic, very limited choice of beers. Theakston Best only, resonable quality but not the best.

15 Jan 2012 20:53

Unicorn Hotel, Ripon

Another "nice" Wetherspoons with good choice of Ales on, both local and national brands.

15 Jan 2012 20:49

Royal Oak, Ripon

Mainly aimed at diners but has small front bar area for drinkers - Good range of quality Timothy Taylor beers

15 Jan 2012 20:44

The Golden Lion, Ripon

Good quality food and limited but good quality ales. NIce pub

15 Jan 2012 20:41

The One Eyed Rat, Ripon

Very nice pub with beer on good form. Plenty of choice from local breweries, but missing the more established options. No Black sheep despite decor suggesting otherwise!

15 Jan 2012 20:36

Magdalens, Ripon

6 good quality ales, very well kept at correct temperature in great form. Nice little back street pub. Very welcoming. Best beer in Ripon?

15 Jan 2012 20:27

Swan, Stafford

Lovely Pub with great selection of quality real ales. Theakston Black Bull bitter on fine form, Deuchers IPA, Salopian Lemon Dream plus a good few others all served in correct glassware. Great effort!

21 Dec 2011 18:11

The Albion, Broseley

Just re-opened. Great pint of Ironbridge Coracle and a friendly atmosphere

3 Dec 2011 19:44

Mason Arms, Kemberton

Visited again to give the place another go.... What an improvement! This pub is back on the LIST. Great Food, top quality Beer, nicely decorated, nice outside area, everything a village pub should be. Would recommend again!

14 Oct 2011 19:45

The All Nations, Madeley

Great Entertainment with Paul Parker and all the right friends outside last night and the Dabley Gold on fine form

31 Jul 2011 13:49

Wheatsheaf Inn, Shifnal

Decent pub, nice atmosphere. Meals 2 for 10 are not too bad at all. 4 real ale offerings all from the Banks/Marstons stable - could do with a local guest ale. But seem well kept. Great Open Mic night with some quality talent.

8 Jul 2011 16:21

Station Inn, Telford

Quality Batemans XXXB last night and a great meal.

24 Jun 2011 17:50

Fighting Cocks, Oakengates

Proper Beer, Proper Pub!

24 Jun 2011 17:45

The Six Bells, Telford

Now serving Ironbridge Brewery real ales. The Citra had great taste and clarity. Top pint well served.

10 Jun 2011 18:30

Stag, Barkston, Grantham

Great pints of Everards Tiger in this lovely village local on Friday

5 Jun 2011 14:40

The Railway Inn, Studley

Good selection of real ales. Purity Gold on fine form. Nice decor

24 May 2011 20:46

The Six Bells, Telford

Re-opened under new management this week. Landlady Donna has cleaned the place up (it needed it!) and given it a lick of paint. Looking good so far.
Now has Real Ale on (Greene King IPA last night). Early days yet but it looks like there is going to be another quality Ale house in Madeley given Donna's track record with beer.

20 May 2011 12:33

Bear and Ragged Staff, Kenilworth

Very attentive barman Friday afternoon...food was very good, Old Speckled Hen a little cloudy. Nice place in the sun but my beer certainly wouldn't have got very high ratings with Cask Marque...perhaps a one off?

8 May 2011 20:18

The Newbold Comyn Arms, Leamington Spa

Food offering much better this year and beers all in excellent condition this weekend. Hooky Bitter and Hooky Dark nice but Church End Goats Milk was exceptional. Now only have 4 hand pulls on but it appears better to have more quality than quantity. Back again next year!

8 May 2011 20:09

The Jug and Jester, Leamington Spa

Probably one of the best Weatherspoons we've been to... Beer was spot on, the food excellent an the refurbishment is very good, some very quirky seats, including the upholstered toilet

8 May 2011 20:00

The Foresters Arms, Madeley

Beer festival this Weekend (29th April-2nd May) The new landlord Richard (plus Mum & Dad) is really making every effort to make this a great pub, with great food and great Beer. Perhaps BIGC should revisit now the initial manager after the refit is long gone.

26 Apr 2011 19:41

The Last Inn, Church Aston

Pub has had a refurb and a name change. Now "The Aston"
Decor has been improved and looks tidy and back garden still impressive
Now only has 5 handpulls and seemed to be heavily Marston brands biased. Pedigree & EPA pump clips occupying 3 - EPA was OK but some way to go to get the Cask Marque quality back.
We didn't eat but looked good enough for us to return sometime. So I don't suppose this visit will be our "L'Aston"!

20 Apr 2011 13:12

Junction Inn, Norbury Junction

Very nice Sunday carvery...beer OK but not the best. All Banks's & Marstons.

6 Mar 2011 18:10

The Foresters Arms, Madeley

Sampled the food last night and I must say it was probably the best proper pub grub I've had for many a year! Nothing pretentious, nothing over the top just basic good food cooked by the landlord. Pork&Leek Sausage and Mash + Homemade faggots and chips... total bill 10.50. Very good portions, very tasty, very well presented.. a great effort. All washed down by the best real ales served in Madeley. I Hope the place doesn't get too popular, we like it just the way it is!

18 Feb 2011 14:59

The Cuckoo Oak, Madeley

3 Handpulls, 2 "on" IPA being line cleaned so only Old Speckled Hen if you could get served. Seemed to be 1 barmaid doing drinks and taking food orders very slow. We had over 90 minute wait for food with no explanation or apology. No tables cleared, very few staff on a Bank Holiday... great planning , very poor service.

29 Dec 2010 15:18

The Black Boy Inn, Bridgnorth

Advertised as open at 3pm on a Friday...no sign of life at 3:05! poor!

15 Oct 2010 17:01

The Swan Hotel, Bridgnorth

At least 4 local ales on Three Tuns Clerics Cure, Ludlow best, Shropshire Lass and a Saddler's brew. Quiet Friday afternoon, but nice enough place

15 Oct 2010 16:56

Jewel Of The Severn, Bridgnorth

Decent pints of Three Tuns & Abbott (Limited selection for a JDW) and nice paninis - pleasant Friday afternoon crowd

15 Oct 2010 16:53

The Star Inn, Penkridge

Good pints of Ringwood 49er last night and nice to see a busy but friendly pub on a Saturday night. By far the best pub in the area and worth a small diversion off the main road or M6 to find it.

10 Oct 2010 12:13

The Plough Inn, Wellington

Very decent pints of Salopian Shropshire Gold tonight...shame it was the only choice available but it was a Monday night. Friendly enough place.

4 Oct 2010 22:48

, Digbeth

Great pints of Salaire and North Yorks Cereal Killer on Saturday afternoon before the Blues game....nice crowd, good atmosphere, Great Beer!. Will re-visit.

27 Sep 2010 15:57

The Swan, Ironbridge

Only average pints of Slaters and Courage Directors on Saturday evening - served in a London Pride glass...could do so much better!

27 Sep 2010 15:52

Lock Inn, Wolverley

Nice canal side pub (shame its Banks's) with 3 cask ales on, Banks's Bitter, Mild and a Marston's seasonal brew Royal Ryder... why oh why don't Banks's tied houses allow at least one local guest ale to be served in their pubs rather than there own brews or ones from their closely tied list?
However, (rant over) the Royal Ryder was very pleasant and to drink it on the patio right on the side of the canal lock in the late evening sunshine made it even better. A great pub location just a shame it is limited by its Beer options. Will revisit soon to sample what looked like a very nice food menu.

24 Sep 2010 22:42

Duck Inn, Edgbaston

New build Beefeater with a bar consisting of Krap Keg fonts that look like Iron Bars to keep the punters from the till.... and only 2 real ale hand-pulls... strangely both with Hobgoblin pump clips. Reasonable pint BUT.......
where did the old DUCK go? what happened to the back building with all the real ale... the 8 before 8 challenge back in the 80's.... those were the days!!

24 Sep 2010 22:29

The Foresters Arms, Madeley

A great first night last night.. Good to have some decent beer in Madeley. The Darwin's Origin, Shropshire Gold, Lemon Dream & Oracle were in great form as were the Ely's Pork Pies so much so I would have been prepared to pay for them. Giving them away FREE on the opening night was a great gesture. We will be returning soon and regularly and will be prepared to pay next time!! Great effort, great pub, great BEER! (shame you feel the need for a pool table!!) Wish you well.

18 Sep 2010 21:27

The Garden House, Edgbaston

Decent pint of Adnams Broadside at a reasonable price. 4 hand pulls, 3in use. I'm sure this used to be the Duck!!

17 Sep 2010 14:09

The White Swan, Edgbaston

It's now 3.25 for average TT Landlord as others say... far too expensive to bother returning

13 Sep 2010 10:59

White Hart, Telford

Nice pint of Jennings Bitter and great baguettes today!

30 Aug 2010 18:23

Meadow Inn, Telford

A beer (Wytchcraft only choice today), Glass of Rose and a lemonade 9.05!

30 Aug 2010 18:16

The Cuckoo Oak, Madeley

3 handpulls still GK IPA the only option - sort it out!!

22 Aug 2010 16:58

The Ship Inn, Romney Marsh

Nice pub with good quality Adnams Broadside and Harveys Sussex ale on very quaint rifle/musket butt handpulls.

18 Aug 2010 18:42

Blakes, Dover

Shame it was closed at 10:00 on Sunday evening!!

18 Aug 2010 18:34

The White Horse, Dover

Very nice pints of Rev James & TT Landlord. Great pub with lots of history with all the channel swims documented on the walls.

18 Aug 2010 18:30

The Park Inn, Madeley

CLOSED!!

9 Aug 2010 11:48

The Foresters Arms, Madeley

Currently closed but being taken over by Salopian Brewery so should re-open with some decent beer!

29 Jul 2010 12:58

Miners Arms, Madeley

Average pint of Banks's Bitter yesterday - Mild only other option despite 6 hand pulls

29 Jul 2010 12:56

The Cuckoo Oak, Madeley

Only average pints of GK IPA yesterday - the only option - not impressed!

29 Jul 2010 12:55

The Bridge Inn, Conwy

Good pints of Hobgoblin and Brakspear Hooray Henley and 3 others on all from the Marstons stable - Pedigree, Banks's and another seasonal.Very nice lunch time menu. Would recommend when visiting Conwy Castle.

26 Jul 2010 16:18

Red Lion, Meliden

Very nice gardens and outside area... unfortunately the only cask ale on last Thursday was Bass and it was very average. Wouldn't get Cask Marque with that pint!

26 Jul 2010 16:12

The Blue Lion Inn, Cwm

very quaint interior but no cask ales on... so we didn't stop!

26 Jul 2010 16:09

The Smithy Arms, Rhuallt

Great Food...The best Steak OH has had for many years. The beer last Thursday was rank though. The Theakstons Bitter was extra cold and end of barrel? and the Marstons Bitter was not much better. Sort your cask ales out and it's a great pub

26 Jul 2010 16:07

The Golden Ball, Ironbridge

Very nice pint of Everards Tiger as usual - 4 other choices of cask ale including Slaters and Ironbridge breweries

4 Jul 2010 14:24

The Robin Hood Inn, Ironbridge

Decent pint of Golden Glow last night but a strange mix of clientle from the old rockers listen to some dubious 60's 70's music to the scutty looking woman topping her own vodka and coke from her handbag supply and then having the cheek to got to the bar to ask for ice in it! Not the quality it used to be. RIP Finn

4 Jul 2010 14:20

The Black Swan, Telford

Decent pints of Hobsons twisted Spire, Abbot Ale and Everards Tiger last weekend plus 2 other cask ales on. Great entertainment from Paul & Adelle Parker

4 Jul 2010 14:09

Boat Inn, Telford

Nice pub in nice location, just a shame the owners don't seem to be bothered. Very average pint of Cockahoop yesterday with very poor service.

4 Jul 2010 14:06

The Revolver, Bishops Tachbrook

Now back to being "The Leopard"
3 decent cask ales on - GK Abbot, Purity Gold and Wye Valley Butty Bach - the Purity Gold was OK but a little cloudy but the Butty Bach was crystal clear and of great quality (didn't try the Abott!)
The food was exceptional and not over priced and they made a party of 15 very welcome in our own area.
I've upped the score by 2! now a good 8/10

26 Apr 2010 18:10

The Newbold Comyn Arms, Leamington Spa

Still a nice pub with lot of effort going into the beers.... 10 hand pulls but all "coming soon" apart from 3 or 4. But decent all the same. The sandwich selection lead a lot to be desired this year, inadequate packaging resulting in stale edges of the bread.... bring back the baguettes they were brill the last 4 years!

26 Apr 2010 18:04

The Malthouse, Ironbridge

To be fair the beer in this place has improved. Choice of 4 beers last night, Brakspear, Adnams bitter, Hobgoblin was good and the Shepherd Neame Cantebury Jack was excellent.

9 Apr 2010 14:40

White Hart, Telford

Very nice food last night, it's just a shame the Beer is only average. Brakspear last night was not at its best other choice was Jennings Bitter.

9 Apr 2010 14:38

The Clement Arms, Birmingham

Run down back street pub, used by Birmingham City fans on match days. Beer is crap, No cask ale, service rubbish, Phyllis the 80+ year old bar maid is a legend and its good for the crack on match days!

26 Mar 2010 15:36

The Cuckoo Oak, Madeley

Another successful visit this time for Mothers Day, the Steak to be fair was OK and the Westgate brewery's FLANKER'S TACKLE was very palatable. Not bad for a Hungry Horse Greene King pub...very noisy and full of "Mothers"!

14 Mar 2010 16:38

The Beacon, Wellington

Decent large chain pub similar to JDW but not a cheap. Reasonable food served all day and also had a very good couple of pints of Brains SA. Choice of 3 cask ales on. OK atmosphere on a Friday afternoon

8 Mar 2010 17:01

The Bartons Arms, Aston

Great pints of Oakham Ales JHB and Inferno and Leeds Brewery Bitter this place knows haw to look after cask ales, and now served in Oakham Brewery glassware - nice touch

26 Feb 2010 16:45

The Red Lion, Kings Heath

Great Pints of Purity UBU on Wednesday evening and served in the correct glassware. Good to see Quality Cask Ales served in quality glasses. Well done Ember Inns.

26 Feb 2010 16:42

The Lion Inn, Telford

27-7-2009 Olde worlde Banks's house, Bitter & Mild plus Jennings Cumberland Ale and surprisingly Old Speckled Hen! Reasonable Food though typical pub grub, nothing exceptional. Landlady very keen to ensure everything OK. Decent enough place but won't rush back

23 Feb 2010 23:06

The Malthouse, Ironbridge

The best beer of our mini-tour round Ironbridge last Saturday evening. Nice pints of Brakespear and Woods Shropshire Lad. A very good Glam Rock band were on playing some classsic 70's stuff. Very pleasant atmosphere and a nice evening.

11 Feb 2010 15:58

White Hart, Telford

Tried a pint of Websters Bitter that was on offer at 1.99 and found out why - obviously been on too long and was well past its best. The average age of the staff seems to be about 12 - also heard comments coming from the "Cellar" while coming from the toilets.. "no! don't do that.. you shouldn't shake the barrel to see how much is left cos all the crap from the bottom gets stirred up!"... good job one of the kids knows about beer... I didn't stay for another!

11 Feb 2010 15:50

Tontine Hotel, Telford

It is such a shame about this pub. OK now they do a decent cask ale but the place is full of chav and chavettes climbing over the furniture on a Saturday evening - not a pleasant place to be. Stopped for 1 and left. Great location, shame about the standards!

11 Feb 2010 15:43

The Horse and Jockey, Ironbridge

Visited again last weekend. Must say the meals have gone down market! Don't get me wrong they were very nice but very much pub grub now rather than the excellent quality they used to serve. Average cask ale, from memory I think it was a Slaters Brew.

11 Feb 2010 15:37

The Cock Hotel, Wellington

OK I now understand what all the fuss is about with this pub. CAMRA Pub of the year etc. Visited for the first time last night and sampled the award winning cask ales. The Rudgate Battle Axe 4.2%, The Ludlow Black Knight 4.5%, The Holdens Special 5.1% and the Holdens Mild were all in great form! The place itself is a proper pub with wooden tables, chairs and benches a nice homely feel with friendly staff and regulars. I will have to make the effort soon to complete my tastings!

31 Jan 2010 13:55

White Horse, Ironbridge

Uninspiring Cask Ale selection since the new owners took over - a selection of One! It has been Bombardier, Spitfire and Directors all OK but nothing special - No entertainment and very loud juke box playing in bar area

22 Jan 2010 18:47

Boat House, Shrewsbury

Nice selection of Cask Ales in good condition, nice lunchtime food - great pub with great views over the river and Quarry park

13 Jan 2010 17:35

Dun Cow, Shrewsbury

Visited Saturday eve 9th Jan. Seems a nice enough pub with big open fire but was disappointed with the cask ale choice. 6 hand pulls but only two on and the best was London Pride, other clips were facing forward but was told that the Three Tuns and Black Sheep brews were "off" - I hate being teased with "this is what you could have had" and a Cask Marque inspector would mark them down for it! Food selection looked very wide ranging although didn't eat so can't comment on the quality. One TV showing the live football with everyone crowded round it, the other showing Sky Sports News. Separate restaurant area - serves Crocodile, Ostrich, Bison etc. Steaks!

13 Jan 2010 17:32

Station Inn, Telford

Cotleigh Brewery Snowy, Bathams Bitter, Woods Old Fireside and Tribute on last night all in great form as were Paul & Adelle Parker, great musicians!

29 Dec 2009 13:07

Odfellows Wine Bar, Shifnal

A very nice Pub serving quality cask ales and good food with entertainment some nights. Beers included Shropshire Gold, Purple Moose, Hobsons plus others all in fine form. Good steaks last night along with great enterainment in the form of an accoustic set from Mr & Mrs Paul Parker. Quality!

21 Dec 2009 11:52

The Bartons Arms, Aston

What an amazing place! Tiled walls, archways, mosaics and screens very impressive olde worlde decor. Crystal clear cask ales from Oakham Brewery, the Bishops Farewell and Inferno were exceptional. I wasn't sure about a Pub serving Thai food and the menu is a little daunting on first inspection but I have to say it was probably one of the best meals we have experienced. 3 course meal for about 20. This was my first visit, it will not be my last!

18 Dec 2009 11:19

The Fountain, Telford

Bit of a run down place, no cask ales and strange choice of "Lazy Landlord Bitter & Mild" Mansfield smooth..v.strange choice of smooth fizz! Great band on last night. "Paul Parker and all the Right Friends" shame they were only playing to a very select lucky few. The notices arround the place sugget Karaoke on Fridays and live bands on Saturdays. Only worth the visit for the band.

6 Dec 2009 15:45

The Three Furnaces, Madeley

Well this place may be an "attitude free" place but it is also a "quality beer free" venue. Had to suffer "Lazy Landlord Bitter" last night (John Smiths Keg!) I'm sure even the "attitude friendly" clientel would appreciate a quality cask ale offering regardless of their sexuality! Nice enough place with no trouble on a Saturday night for "Straight", "Gay", "Bi", whatever alike...but sort out the beer!

29 Nov 2009 14:36

The Cuckoo Oak, Madeley

Fair play to this place... It was a bit of a dive a few years ago but I have just gad a very nice steak christmas meal and can't fault it. Now that they have made the effort an got cask ale in it is well worth a visit. Being a Greene King house it has the usual IPA on the new font, Speckled Hen and also had the new Abbot Reserve 6.5% on and I'm writting this as I tackle my 4th pint on a Saturday afternoon... I may be here some time! Not sure I'd hold a wedding reception here though (there is one going on here now!). Did I say how nice the Abbot Reserve was hic!?

28 Nov 2009 14:58

The Posada, Wolverhampton

Only 3 out of 6 handpulls in use last night but the Abbot, Davenport and Saltaire Brewrey Stein Gold brews were on fine form and with the CAMRA discount your can't complain!

27 Nov 2009 11:11

White Hart, Telford

Much nicer since my previous visits. Good pints of Deuchars and Ironbridge Brewery Four Candles...no Four Candles! (classic 2 Ronnies). Place seems to be more homely now and well worth a visit for the selection of cask ale.

25 Nov 2009 12:23

Tontine Hotel, Telford

Fair play the Tontine now has decent cask ale (didn't used to!) Decent pints of Butty Bach and Salopian Shropshire Gold. Still a bit of a down market place but OK.

25 Nov 2009 12:12

The Queens Head, Telford

3 Handpulls, No cask ale, crap keg tetleys, dirty glasses. Looks like a poorly run pub with no class! Not worth a visit!

15 Nov 2009 15:55

Railway Hotel, Buxton

A very plesent GK pub with good quality Abbot Ale on when we visited Friday lunchtime. Very friendly service and nice food. A quality lunchtime experience.

30 Oct 2009 15:45

The Brown Bear, Sheffield

What a great proper pub in the heart of Sheffield - very nice pints of Sam Smiths Old Brewery Bitter - not had any of that for years.
Great to see a bar without Carling, Forster, Stella etc. etc. Ice-cold extra large beer fonts adorning the bar but instead Sam Smiths own larger on sale. So even if you are a die-hard "Larger Boy" give it a try you may discover some taste!
Well worth a visit and great value too!

30 Oct 2009 15:42

Gwesty Ty Newydd, Pwllheli

Most westerly Pint in north Wales with views over the bay. Decent pint of Glaslyn Ale from the Purple Moose brewery - 5th July 09

7 Oct 2009 16:15

Y Bryncynan Inn, Pwllheli

Nice pint of Robinsons Hen Drwyn on a rainy summers day 4th July 09. Nice bar area.

7 Oct 2009 16:12

The Robin Hood Inn, Ironbridge

Nice pint of Holden's Golden Glow and great pint of Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby 6% last night.

30 Sep 2009 11:21

The Lord Hill, Dawley

Closed and sold to T&W Council!

11 Sep 2009 15:15

The Lord Clifden, Birmingham

Great pints of Bathams as usual. But why oh why have the quiz blaring out at full volumne in the front bar on a Thursday interupting everyones conversation when there is no-one in there interested in the Quiz. Please leave the font bar for sporting events and quiet conversaion!

11 Sep 2009 15:09

Station Inn, Telford

Great night on Sunday 30th Sept 09 - Four good cask ales on. Tribute, Kempsey White Bear, Woods Parish ALe and Wye Valley Century ale all very nice. Plus the entertainment was great. Paul Parker (and wife) on accoustic guitar, bongo drums, harmonicas, mandolin etc. what a great sound and a couple of great musicians. Great Night!!

3 Sep 2009 13:49

The Beacon, Madeley

Called in Thursday, reasonably busy with a Karaoke on. Good to see a pub making the effort during the week. Still no Cask Ale and a number of the regulars suggested they would like it. However the Keg Theakston's Mild was quite palatable. Get some decent Cask Ale in and this might be quite a nice pub!

21 Aug 2009 14:49

The Crown Inn, Ironbridge

Ropey print of Shropshire Gold last night, Landord that would rather play the bandit than serve customers! A very average pub with a stage selection of funiture. Looks a bit run down and It appears the place has seen better days

21 Aug 2009 14:40

Mason Arms, Kemberton

Recent change of managementand it shows! This was always one of my top 2 eating pubs in Telford, unfortunately no more. Although the cask ale continues to be good especially the Springback Brewery Ginger Pig the food and service led a lot to be desired. The menu has been simplified no more pigeon, quail or octopus probably down to the skills of the new chef? While we were there last night at least 2 meals from separate parties were sent back for being undercooked. Kidneys that were described as a train smash oozing blood and a Venison steak in Barnaise sauce that was stone cold and so raw in the middle it was still chilled. The venison was rescued by being cooked and was very nice but it was the attitude of the waitress that left a worst taste in the mouth. thats how its supposed to be, have you ever had venison before? was her very vocal and demeaning question to the lady diner who had dared to point out it wasnt cooked. Perhaps she was trained in customer service in a transport caf? Perhaps these are teething problems for the new owner but I think they should have a serious word with the chef and staff. Unfortunately I wont be visiting again in the near future to find out; Ill take my custom elsewhere!

The Red Lion, Kings Heath

Last nights performance was much better! Pint of Caledonian Top Banana 4.1% a surprisinging odd Banana bitter but very nice. Well pulled, with tight head and non in the drip tray. Well Done!

6 Aug 2009 12:48

Station Inn, Telford

Great Steak nights on a Tuesday. Free starter with every steak. Black Pudding and Bacon in pepper sauce starter with a Rump steak for 12.50, Bargain. Very nice meal and Great Beer - Cottage Brewing Box Tunnel & Lightning Ale, Wye Valley Bitter and the usual St. Austel Tribute all in top condition. This has got to be the best Pub food in Telford!

6 Aug 2009 12:45

Devonshire Inn, Skipton

Very nice JDW with weekly local brewery festivals. 4 National Ales and 5 local. Nice pints of Goose Eye Brewery's Pommies Revenge & Devonshire Ale. Unusual to find a JDW in the CAMRA GBG must be good. Food was also good and great value for money as always in JDW's

23 Jul 2009 18:43

The Red Lion, Kings Heath

Oh no! So close but so far away!
Just ordered a pint of Holdens Golden Glow... As it was being pulled it looked perfect, tight creamy head, clearing beer. The barmaid pulled it to the top without spilling, put it down to stand, took my money and rung it up and gave me the change... Fantastic so far.. Then slowly poured more into the glass to top it up, great. Then just when everything was looking perfect... Gave an almighty pull, loosing most of the head down the side of the glass in the drip tray! Then to add insult to injury removed the sprinkler head out if the glass and spayed more beer on top of the remaining head killing it completely and giving it the appearance of dish water! The head was dead within minutes! So close but so so SO far away from the perfect pint!
Get some staff training sorted!!!! PLEASE !

22 Jul 2009 18:55

Allscott Inn, Telford

This is now The Duck @ Allscott. Visited 23rd June and had only one handpull for cask ale. I was servered a pint of Ruddles County which was like vinegar. Do landlords not check the quality of the product they are about to attempt to sell. I was then offered the "alternatives" Keg GK IPA or John Smiths. Not a pub I would recommend if you like a decent pint! Back up the road everybody to the Plough!!

2 Jul 2009 16:02

The Red Lion, Kings Heath

Average pint of Ostlers SPA, decent enough but not in prime condition!

1 Jul 2009 18:58

The Malthouse, Ironbridge

Changed hands again... 3 Cask Ales on The Rev. James very nice, also had Hobgoblin and ESB on. They had an Open mic night on Wednesday when I visited, nice atmosphere.

25 Jun 2009 13:06

The Lifford Curve, Stirchley

Decent pint of Hobgoblin on Wednesday night. Other cask choice was Banks's Bitter, didn't try it!

25 Jun 2009 12:59

The Plough Inn, Telford

Don't do food on Monday & Tuesday eveings so didn't stop despite the good selection of cask ales on!

25 Jun 2009 12:41

Swan Inn, Telford

Nicely refurbished pub, decent pint of Black Sheep from one of the 4 hand pulls. Didn't stop to eat as they had now credit card facilities "until next week".

25 Jun 2009 12:35

The Bucks Head, Telford

Limited choice of cask ale, London Pride was Ok. Nice steaks 16oz T-bone & 8oz rib eye... shame about the tinned peas! Why do pubs do that?!

25 Jun 2009 12:28

The Beacon, Madeley

Called in on Tuesday... no bitter at all, told they were winding down to close on Friday 19th

18 Jun 2009 13:37

The Horse and Jockey, Ironbridge

OK pint of Woods Wheatear. Nice to sit on back decking on a warm evening

18 Jun 2009 13:32

The Golden Ball, Ironbridge

Very Nice pint of Ironbridge Brewery ISB, other choices were Boradside, Directors, Wadsworth 6X and the usual Everards Tiger.... Good selection.

18 Jun 2009 11:53

Castle Barge, Newark

Pub on a Barge moored on the Trent. Very nice quaint downstairs interior and decent pint of Ringwood Best Bitter on Handpull. Nice place.

11 Jun 2009 17:13

Sweyn Forkbeard, Gainsborough

Normal good cask Ale and cheap food from this pleasent JDW pub. Can't fault it

11 Jun 2009 17:09

Barge and Bottle, Sleaford

Impressive 9 cask ales on, mostly classics but some independents as well. Agree with the last comment.. not sure how they got Cask Marque... Barman pulled a 1/2 of black sheep and tipped all the head in the tray and presented it looking like dish water. To be fair when asked to re-pull and leave the head on it was mush better. The Bishops Finger and York Brewery Guzzler were acceptable... but some staff training required... don't over pull and loose the head in the drip tray!

11 Jun 2009 17:05

The Finch's Arms, Hambleton

NIce pub on Rutland Water peninsular. Decent quality cask ales, Local IPA and GK Abbot and nice scone, jam & cream.

3 Jun 2009 19:46

Anne Of Cleves, Melton Mowbray

Lovely pints of Everard Original & Twenty Two Florins. Really nice pub with good olde worlde decor and feel !

3 Jun 2009 19:36

Stag, Barkston, Grantham

Good quality pints of Everards Tiger and Becon. Very nice food - Rib Eye Steak with Stilton and Chicken Fajitas were lovely. Nice quiet pub in quiet village worth a visit.

3 Jun 2009 19:32

Tollemache Inn, Grantham

Nice pints of Theakstons XB and Gourmet Burger. Good selection of cask ales, spoit for choice, Nice place lunchtime!

1 Jun 2009 13:27

Unicorn Inn, Hampton Loade

Basic pub serving the camp site - only ordinary Banks's Bitter and Mild. Two spare hand pulls with nothing on even for a Bank Holiday weekend. Captive audience so don't have to try too hard. OK place but wouldn't bother with the drive again. River & Rail across the ferry far better now it has Cask Ale on!

28 May 2009 11:18

Station Inn, Telford

Great Pub serving quality real ales always 3 or 4 on. Food is excellent especially the 448 combination sausage board.

16 May 2009 13:52

White Horse, Ironbridge

The Theakston's Old Peculier was exceptional last night. Donna real does know how to keep quality beer. Well done! Luv it!

3 May 2009 20:30

The Newbold Comyn Arms, Leamington Spa

A bit dissapointed with the beer selection this last weekend all very samey and micro-brewy. Need to have at least one classic on and a range of ABV's

30 Apr 2009 17:27

The Benjamin Satchwell, Leamington Spa

Reasonable pints of Abbot this weekend and when its only 1.79 and 50p off for CAMRA vouchers you can't complain. Very reasonable priced spirits and the splash of lemeonade etc. are free... unlike The Copper Pot up the road. Gets very busy and noisy at weekends but all under control - all the kids are ID'd!

30 Apr 2009 17:24

The Moorings, Leamington Spa

Always good sandwiches and a decent pint of Bombadier

30 Apr 2009 17:21

The Copper Pot, Leamington Spa

Reasonable pint of Deuchars IPA but the price of a splash of lemonade is a joke 95p a very small splash.. If you want a bit more in your brandy it's another 95p! Making it 4.45 for a brandy & lemonade. Your having a laugh... But used their wifi to write this! Off to JDW's now!

24 Apr 2009 22:03

White Horse, Ironbridge

Must say the Old Speckled Hen was in great condition last night and the place was very clean and tidy. Donna continues to do an excellent job and the pub appears to go from strength to strength.

4 Apr 2009 12:54

Duke Of York, Trench

Visited last night and despite the decor which shows what it is, a run down closed pub that has just re-opend, we received a very warm welcome and the quality of the Cask Ale was exceptional. There was a choice of Hobgoblin and Deuchers IPA. The IPA was the best I've had anywhere, they've obviously got the basics right I'm sure the rest will follow.

27 Mar 2009 13:39

The Yenton, Birmingham

Must say... a much better selection of Cask Ale last night so credit where credit is due. Old Speckled Hen, Bombadier (although it had just run out!) and Banks's Bitter.... Fair play!

20 Mar 2009 13:30

Duke Of York, Trench

Rumour is it's opening again soon ?

19 Mar 2009 11:55

The Dun Cow, Dawley

Now bulldozed to make way for a retirement home!

19 Mar 2009 11:51

White Horse, Ironbridge

Had a lovely basket meal last night... in a basket, Cumberland Sausage ring and chips for under a fiver and great pints of Directors and Broadside. This pub continues to excel !

4 Feb 2009 16:16

Waterfront Inn, Brierley Hill

Decent pints of Sadlers beers 2 on. The Mellow Yellow was very good also had Abbot, Pedigree and GK IPA on. Generally the normal food was OK grills, burgers etc. but the Sunday lunches leave a lot to be desired! A Lamb shoulder ordered came out stone cold and when returned a second attempt was so intensly nuked the meat was so tough it couldn't be cut let alone chewed! Admittedly the cost of the meal was refunded without any fuss but stick to what you do well JDW and leave the Sunday lunches to the specialists. Never the less a nice pub by the side of the canal with reasonable understanding staff!

25 Jan 2009 18:39

The Bridge Inn, Brewood

Nice pub by the canal. 4 hand pulls for cask although 1 is cider. Strange selection of cask with Jennings Dark Mild, Wychwood Winter Troll & Mansfield Bitter ! The Troll was very pleasant

24 Jan 2009 17:30

The Yenton, Birmingham

A very bland plastic managed pub that doesnt even have the class of a JDW or an Ember Inn. Last night the Cask Ale selection was pitiful. It appears from the pumps they have Bankss Bitter, Green King IPA and Pedigree. Hardly an inspiring selection. Last night only a very mediocre pint of Bankss was available (an occasional pipe clean would improve it!). Get a guest ale in! Also they stop serving coffee at 9pm. Whats that aboutif the Moca Choca Foca Fartte Latte machine has to be switched off at 9 get a kettle! Some people like a warm drink on a cold January night. Overall not very impressed!

23 Jan 2009 11:41

Duke Of York, Trench

currently closed!

16 Jan 2009 11:56

The Swan With Two Necks, Longdon

Lovely pints of Bathams on Friday and decent Holden's Golden today lovely pub with roaring fires and very friendly staff and customers. Wish it was my local!

11 Jan 2009 13:51

Moon Under Water, Wolverhampton

Decent couple of pints of Old Hookey...but....
We had a well behaved 9 month old with us (sign says children allowed if eating) whilest eating at lunchtime and asked if they could warm her food up for her (1 minute in a microwave!). We were told in no uncertain terms by the "Umpalumpa" behind the bar that it was not possible because of "cross-contamination"... an unopend tin of Heinz Baby Food verses a JDW kitchen...makes me wonder where the contamination is ? !!! She managed to eat it cold...bless!

4 Dec 2008 14:45

The Posada, Wolverhampton

Nice pints of East Green and Spitfire last night with at least another 4 well known cask ales I didn't get to try. Nice little pub in heart of Wolverhampton.

27 Nov 2008 10:55

Boat Inn, Telford

Nice pub by banks of Severn. Very pleasent on a sunny day. Gets flooded when the river is up and interesting markings on the door frame showing the flood levels of various years. Usually decent beers on, Jennings & Marstons

23 Nov 2008 13:07

The Red Lion, Kings Heath

Nice couple of pints of York Brewery's Centurion's Ghost Ale on Monday evening...and I sat in a "High Chair"....at a high table. I Didn't eat but the service and surroundings are plesant enough and the beer is good.

19 Nov 2008 16:19

The Dun Cow, Dawley

Closed!!!

4 Nov 2008 17:51

The Church Wicketts, Malinslee

Reasonable pints of Ruddles County and Green King IPA also had Witchchaser on for Halloween. Reasonable atmosphere for a Saturday night crowd, good DJ and Karaoke....but the toilets were disgusting!!

2 Nov 2008 11:56

The Bankers Draft, Sheffield

Great session on Old Peculier at the weekend, very nice! Decent value for money food and reasonable quality JDW pub. Friendly efficient staff and even allowed OP as the "free" drink with the meal deal. We'll be back next year!

27 Oct 2008 13:17

bar s1, Sheffield

Not a nice place, No Cask Ales, No reason to visit again!

27 Oct 2008 13:14

Salt Cellar, Middlewich

Big chain pub..decent food but no Cask Ales! - Asked why.."we used to have it but no one round here drinks it"! - what a strange part of the world!

15 Oct 2008 13:54

White Horse, Ironbridge

What a pleasure to drink in this pub. Perfectly kept every changing Cask Ales always served in the correct branded glassware. It is so obvious that Real Ale is a passion and attention to detail is evident. The choice last night was Old Speckled Hen, Theakstons Best Bitter and Theakstons Old Peculier, which was gorgeous!

24 Sep 2008 15:14

The Bottle and Glass, Dudley

Great Pub in the Black Country Museum serving only Real Ale in surroundings like it used to be in the 1900's. Choice of Bitter and Mild (Holden's) very nice. No Larger etc. Just like a pub should be! Shame it was served in plastic glasses! I don't suppose they had the problems with health and saftey in those days!

22 Sep 2008 13:29

The Pie Factory, Tipton

Decent pint of Lump Hammer and the food very good. A nice place to visit for the "experience" of the Cow Pie, sawdust, handpulls and quirky decor

22 Sep 2008 13:24

White Horse, Ironbridge

I had to try out the new Mild last night. Tetley Dark Mild and although Mild is not my favourite tipple I can say I was very impressed with the quality. It's good to see a pub trying something different especially in a Banks's Obsessed area like the midlands - far superior to Banks's Original. Well done!

4 Sep 2008 13:06

White Horse, Ironbridge

The beer was exceptional last night... 2 pints of Theakstons Best Bitter and 2 of Abbott and I still wanted more!

29 Aug 2008 16:09

The Last Inn, Church Aston

Having visited and enjoyed this pub many times before I can safely say that it has gone down hill rapidly. I presume as a result of the T&W poorly thought out "scores on the doors" scheme that its popularity has dropped off - well done T&W council for helping to destroy the pub trade! Last night (Saturday) there were only 3 real ales on (instead of the prviously usual 7) The number of diners were few and far between, the place used to be packed. The food is still 2 for 1 on everything so is good value for money but.... I had a mixed grill and the liver was almost raw and dripping blood, the rest of the meat was OK but undercooked liver is a health risk if nothing else! My partners "Surf & Turf" was advestised as "Steak abd Wholetail Scampi" is was obviously straight from the freezer bag with no sign of a "tail" insight. We received an appology for the liver paid our bill and left. My intension for the evening was to report favourably that the recent critism was unfounded and that this was still a great place to eat and drink.... Sorry I can't do that!

24 Aug 2008 15:16

White Horse, Ironbridge

Perhaps Mark_J you should have complained about the "Tangy Mild" I'm sure it would have been changed for you. It often happens with real ale near the bottom of the cask. It is the nature of the beast. More importantly why have Banks's when Black Sheep and Broadside were both on offer? I had a couple of pints of each last night and they were excellent. Perhaps you should try another visit to "The Best Pub in Telford" maybe on a busier night to find out why it gained over 2/3rds of the vote.

7 Aug 2008 13:47

Royal Oak, Stonnall

Good selection of Real Ales and nice food. Proper little village pub

23 Jul 2008 16:25

Old Swan, Stonnall

Child friendly and resonable food but the real ale selection and quality always leaves a lot to be desired

23 Jul 2008 16:24

The Old Peculiar, Handsacre

22-9-2007: Fantastic pint of Theakstons Old Peculier in The Old Peculiar (yes the spellings are correct!) with choice of Abbot, Pedegree and Guest ale (Black Hole Brewery Bitter) very nice proper pub doing lunch and evening meals

23 Jul 2008 13:58

Swan Inn, Fradley Junction

Always a nice pint of decent Real Ale. Great to sit outside and watch the boats go by

23 Jul 2008 13:54

Junction Inn, Norbury Junction

Lovely Pub on the banks of the canal. Serves nice food and decent real ale usually Banks's and a changing guest. But its the location that makes it, watching the boats in the marina on a sunny afternoon. Nice place

23 Jul 2008 13:50

The Wolseley Arms, Stafford

Visit 22-9-2007: Another big pub chain faceless pub. Reasonable pint of Bass bitter, the only Cask Ale available (had keg pedigree and speckled hen but Id rather drink my own urine) Reasonable food, but the Pie crust was like leather and the 12oz steak had 5oz of fat trim your meat chef! But there again mass produced food cooked by robots not creative chefs. Dont go out of your way to visit.

23 Jul 2008 13:06

Corn Mill, Llangollen

Great Pub and Restraunt on banks of river with mill race and working water mill. Nice outstide drinking area actually over the river. Always decent collection of real ales on sale.

22 Jul 2008 14:10

White Horse, Ironbridge

Great pints (6) of Black Sheep tonight... can't fault it, the best I've had anywhere..and the Merlot was nice too...so I've been told!

20 Jul 2008 01:31

The Foaming Jug, Codsall

good pints of TT landlord, shame the other Cask Ale choices we not so good (banks's Bitter and Pedigree) very good meals as usual, just need to get the bar manager to crack his face!

20 Jul 2008 01:26

The Shroppie Fly, Audlem

Great food, very nice steaks, sauce, veg and side salads. Good selection of cask ales, Theakston Bitter, TT Landlord, Directors, Flowers and Cask Boddies although the quality was not the best. The Theakston, Landlord & Directors that I tried were all a little cloudy. Need to improve the cellermanship (pipe clean?). But all in all a great pub location and value for money food.

12 Jul 2008 18:27

The Church Inn, Hockley

Attempted to go to the Church last night to try it out since the new ownership. Had to turn round before I got to the door because of the excessive noise. THE MUSIC WAS SO LOUD IT COULD BE HEARD IN TOWN!

11 Jul 2008 11:37

The Plough Inn, Wistanstow

Gorgeous Farmhouse Pie not to be missed and not a bad pint of Wood's Hopping mad OK if you like Wood's beers. Nice food but no roast on a Sunday Lunch, a bit quiet.

6 Jul 2008 18:53

The Junction, Harborne

Visited July 2007 - The Junction Inn. Nice pub with good smoking area out of the back. I bit pretentious with all the foreign lagers (who drinks that stuff?!) Three real ales on but no classics all very micro brewish but not a bad pint. Staff need some customer service training, our drinks were served a various places down the bar and had to be retrieved ourselves and then to have the audacity to ask to have my beer topped up. She was not a happy soul!

6 Jul 2008 11:07

White Horse, Ironbridge

Attended the White Horse Llama Night last night. What a fun place to be and the beer was spot on, Hobgobblin

3 Jul 2008 14:08

The Prince of Wales, Moseley

what a hole and that guy with the cap wots he about, anoying or what!

29 Jun 2008 00:55

Mason Arms, Kemberton

Another great meal and decent ale at this pub last night (18/6/08). A real hidden gem of a pub on outskirts of Telford. Fantastic Food, Great Real Ale. A Top Class pub. Good selection of 3 changing real ales with notification of what's coming next. Very good pint of Old Speck. Hen.

25 Jun 2008 11:02

The Lass O'Gowrie, Manchester

Lovely pub just off the main stretch in Manchester City centre. Have 10 hand pulls for cask ale. unfortuately only had 3 on Friday and 4 on Saturday. Still the Black Sheep on Sat was very nice and the Vixen wasn't bad on Friday, limited supply apparently caused be deleivery problems while they build the balcony! The Steak and Black Sheep Ale pie was very nice as was the Stilton and Bacon sandwich. Great little pub with a lot of character.

21 Jun 2008 23:53

Royal London, Wolverhampton

No cask ales. Typical big chain pub serving basic food and crap larger. I had a shandy, but to be fair the bitter spoilt the lemonade!

15 Jun 2008 21:38

The Tap and Spile, Wolverhampton

Very basic "back street boozer" with similar clientel. Average Cask Ales mainly small local samey breweries, in need of some classic.

15 Jun 2008 21:34

Vale of Belvoir Inn and Hotel, Whatton

Doesn't look very appealing from the outside but inside is much better. The food is really good quality and value for money. The decor is very pleasant and although there is only one hand pull they do have a quality cask ale on. It was a very nice couple of pints of Green King IPA.... and they are open on a Monday evening for meals, nothing much else in the area is!

4 Jun 2008 12:21

Gap Inn, Muston

Keg only Carvery Pub, No Soul, No Cask Ales - so walked back out again

4 Jun 2008 12:16

Blue Pig Inn, Grantham

Great Cask Ales, Lovely Food on Sunday evening. Proper Olde Worlde Pub and open on Sunday evening for food till 9pm which apprears to be very rare for the surrounding area!

3 Jun 2008 12:53

Rutland Arms, Bottesford

Shame! didn't get to try the food as they don't do food on Sunday or Monday evenings

3 Jun 2008 12:41

Red Lion, Bottesford

Shame! didn't get to try the Cask Ales as they don't do food on Sunday or Monday evenings

3 Jun 2008 12:25

Blue Pig Inn, Grantham

Lovely Pub serving lovely Cask Ales. Nice Pub

31 May 2008 18:49

Rutland Arms, Bottesford

Nince pub in nice village just off the A52 near Grantham. 3 Cask Ales on when we visited and decent quality. Good outside area, food served lunch & evening, not tried it yet

31 May 2008 18:46

The Bell Inn, Brewood

What a great pub. Well kept real ales, Doom Bar, Milestone Maid Marien and SHropshire Lad (and Banks's bitter and Mild for the uneducated!). Fantastic food, wonderful gammon & ham menu and the Gammon & Stilton was to die for, and great pate starters. Lovely Pub well worth stopping for.

30 May 2008 11:06

Varsity, Aberystwyth

No Real Ale and few staff, queue at the bar, didn't stop!

30 May 2008 11:01

The Hare and Hounds, Shifnal

4 Real Ales on, if you count Banks's Mild and Bitter! The pint of Hanbury I had was rank! Cloudy and luckily only filled to just beyond 3/4 full, very large head. The barman didn't seem to take any interest in his art of serving the beer. To be fair they were busy with a party but if you bother to keep beer at least look after it and serve it properly. It's beer like this that gives real ale a bad name. Sort It!

29 May 2008 14:03

The Inn on the Pier, Aberystwyth

No Real Ale, what's the point, didn't stop!

28 May 2008 16:14

The Academy, Aberystwyth

No Real Ale, nice building, what a waste, didn't stop!

28 May 2008 16:10

White Hart, Shifnal

Always good real ales and very plesant pub.

28 May 2008 14:16

The Craven Arms, Craven Arms

Nice enough pub for a big managed house. Decent pint of Hobson's Mild along with choice of Woods Parish or Salop Gold. Need more staff on as service was a little slow on Bank Holiday Monday early evening and the volume of the juke box? in the bar was too loud, disturbing diners and drinkers in the lounge area

26 May 2008 22:36

The Church Inn, Hockley

So the "problems" with the pub according to Lee were location and the locals! Strange how The Lord Clifden, 50 yards away, doesn't have the same "problems". As previously stated I think the problems were more internal, you reap what you sow! RIP The Church

16 May 2008 10:33

The Last Inn, Church Aston

Great Reals ales usually 7 or 8 on maily clasics, 6X, Abbot, Tiger, Salop Gold all good quality. Has Cask Marque so has to be! 2-4-1 meals every day and good value for money. Nicest beer garden around.

14 May 2008 19:22

The Lord Clifden, Birmingham

Had Bathams on this week - great pint, who needs The Church!

25 Apr 2008 11:22

The Swan, Ironbridge

Nice pub with decent real ale choice and good food, can be a bit pricey

23 Apr 2008 13:12

The Robin Hood Inn, Ironbridge

Nice Holdens beers - crystal clear. But Slow food!

23 Apr 2008 13:10

The Golden Ball, Ironbridge

Good pub with 5 decent real ales on

23 Apr 2008 13:08

The Horse and Jockey, Ironbridge

Nice little eating pub, food great when Jim is in the kitchen - Real ale a bit ropey

23 Apr 2008 13:07

The Church Inn, Hockley

Yipppeeee ! The "To Let" board is up now.... What happend to all the "BIG" ideas Lee? the homely pub, the upstairs smokers area, roof garden etc.etc.etc. You have to look after your regulars first mi old china! - Hopefully will get someone in now who knows how to look after beer and create a nice place to drink it!

22 Apr 2008 16:45

The Bull, Birmingham

Always nice Adnams Broadside but agree should not be served through a sparkler (check with the brewery!) usually northern beers are, southern beers are not, all the taste ends up in the froth !

8 Apr 2008 13:27

The Revolver, Bishops Tachbrook

Nice restraunt, nice food and now have a couple of real ale handpulls hidden away in the corner... not the best beer but at least they have it now and are trying

8 Apr 2008 13:20

The Waterside Inn, Leamington Spa

Real Ale...? you're having a laugh, its a tacky crap keg only pub. Theres no handpulls !

8 Apr 2008 13:14

The Newbold Comyn Arms, Leamington Spa

Great Pub by the Swimming Pool always have a number of small sessions over the weekend while swimming the Midlands Masters - Always good choice of real ales and nice baguettes (staple diet of us athletes!)

8 Apr 2008 13:11

The Benjamin Satchwell, Leamington Spa

Visited on a busy Friday night (4th April) and ordered food at 10pm and were served very quickly. The food was cheep and chearful but very nice & well presented. The beers were plentyful and the 3 I tried spot on for quality. The Duechers Chocolate Drop especially deserves a mention. One of the better JDW's I've been to, and where else serves food till 11pm

8 Apr 2008 13:07

The Church Inn, Hockley

as the previous reveiws state... used to be a nice pub with nice beer... now just attitude and agrovation! Bathams should withdraw their supply to this pub and send it somewhere that will do the beer justice - perhaps the Lord Clifden then we won't have far to go for it. The owners need to decide what they are doing with the place and do it rather than just give the cockney wide boy speel. Not impressed !

7 Apr 2008 16:06

The Lord Clifden, Birmingham

Visited last Thursday and joined in the Quiz.... is it still going? Has he announced any answers or given out the scores yet! Got to be the most drawn out quiz ever, didn't realise it was the Clifden Marathon. That aside, very nice done out pub, good beer, friendly and great beer garden. Looking forward to our next visit this Thursday for the Beer... oh and that Quiz - still dont know which character drives a pink Ford Anglia ? or if Hard Black was the lead in pencil ?

7 Apr 2008 15:07
