The Shoelaces, Leyton

One to give a miss! Walked into the pub and felt very uncomfortable with the customers around me. Wont be going back.

The William IV, Leyton

Excellent beer, excellent pub. Has improved lots since my last visit. The Brodies Porter was exceptional, and the ESB was just as good. Will be going back here to try more of the brodies range.

Ye Olde Monken Holt, Barnet

Another good pub but just short of the Mitre in terms of beer quality. Very friendly bar staff, was told it gets very busy when they have live bands on. Only locals and a few workers in today but they seemed friendly enough.

The Misty Moon, Barnet

This was the first time i had been in here for a few years, i think it was a JDW pub the last time i visted. Was very quiet today but enjoyed the beer and the service was friendly enough.

Ye Olde Mitre Inne, Barnet

Must agree with Mr Monkfish the beers were very drinakble and well kept. This pub was a surprise to me with its tidy interior and spacious beer garden. Had 5 different beers on today including Deuchers IPA, brains SA and Batemans GHB. Easily the best pub in the area.

The Drum, Walthamstow

Was in here on Sunday night, 8 different beers on including some from Acorn and Nethergate. The Acorn darkness was very good. Will be going back next weekend for their Westerham brewery weekend.

The Maple Tree, Penge

A nice pub this one, although have to agree it is a bit boring! Certainly one the better pubs in Penge. Pride was very good.

The Black Sheep Bar, Crystal Palace

Average bar, but better than some of the ones around it. Beer seemed in reasonably good condition. Worth popping in if you are nearlby but wouldnt go out of my way to go here.

The Grape and Grain, Crystal Palace

What a horrible place. Didnt feel easy in here, finished my pint and left, and wont be going back. Beer was ok, but nothing special.

!CE, St Albans

Adalaides is always a last resort in St Albans! Do us a favour and knock it down....

Moon Under Water, Enfield

I like this pub. Its strange shape bar helps the atmosphere. I had a pint of greene king IPA in here and it was in excellent condition. Manager and staff are always helpful, would reccommend this pub to anybody.

The White Hart, Whitechapel

A large bright pub. Tried the youngs special which was poor. The barman tried it after he pulled my pint and pulled a funny face which didnt suggest to me that it was in the best condition! Other customers eating various different takeaways in the pub left a nasty smell, not somewhere that i would like to go again!

The Half Moon, Stepney Green

Not a pub i want to go into again! Lacks atmosphere especially the Chapel bar. My pint of tanglefoot was cloudy and poor in taste. Left without asking for a replacement.

L'Oasis, Stepney

A lovely little pub. Tried the Greenwich Wheat on draught. This was ok, but also had a wide selction of other beers from the Greenwich brewery. Timothy Taylor was on gravity pour, although didnt try this. Food seemed slightly expensive. Well worth another visit.

The Blind Beggar, Whitechapel

Very strange pub with a large beer garden. Seemed to lack character considering its history. Speckled hen was very poor with bits of yeast floating in it. Wont be going back here soon.

The Ten Bells, Shoreditch

Love this pub! Lots of character, the original tiles are excellent, although not sure about the furniture... Bombardier was ok but nothing special. Barman struggled when asked for a pint of 'Wife Beater'!!!! had to have it explained to him by the customer. Could do with a bit more about its history is the pub.

The Counting House, Bank

What an excellent pub! Discovery was excellent, although had a full range of Fullers beers on including HoneyDew. Very busy when i first went in, but service was quick. One of the better pubs in the area.

The Grapes, Sutton

This is now a JD Wetherspoons. Standard selection of ales on although they were ok, but nothing special.

Goose, Wood Green

What a horrible place! Cheap Lager but that was awful, no real ale on either. Adnams was 'Coming Soon'

The New Crown, Southgate

Have to agree with the last two reviews. Pub has turned a corner with reagrds to its ales. Had a pint of Thwaites Good Elf in here and it was excellent.

The Tally Ho, North Finchley

Where has the Geordie manager gone? The manager in charged when i went in there was rubbish. Complained about beer being cloudy and was told thats how it is meant to look! Wont be going back here for a while.

3 Jan 2009 13:57

The Moon and Stars, Penge

Another change of manager here. Things have improved, and the beer was excellent! Didnt have the food so cant comment although it looked really busy.

3 Jan 2009 13:55

The Drum, Walthamstow

This pub seems to have improved recently. I had a pint of Ringwood Fortyniner which was excellent. Yes the clientell is still the same but would return for the beer, 10 available today. A new manager has given a new commitment to real ale.
