Went in with 7 friends last night before going to the thai passion ( excellent ) down the road. He is still on his f...ing phone behind the bar. 8 drinks 38 pounds. A 125 ml of cheap Bulgarian wine 4.20 ! What a joke. Nice to see Timothy Taylors Landlord on though, and it was excellent - 3.80.

The Thatch, Croyde

How a Devon pub should be, go and see it for yourself. We were there on a thursday lunchtime at 12.45 and it was 3/4 full then. Plenty of room at the bar, so probably advisable to book. 9.5/10.

The Rock Inn, Georgeham

Nice enough pub but quite pricey; not suprised as its those bastards Punch. 7/10.

The Bar, Instow

Things must have changed here then. Filthy tables and floors of spilt drinks and food. Bar staff standing around oblivious of the state of the place. Half a dozen morans in and outside being a pain. Nice location but wouldn't go back. 4/10.

The Old Smithy Inn, Welcombe

piss flap and nuffsaid why not go down to the west country and see it for yourself. Iv'e checked all your comments, and your in my neck of the woods (not far from Guildford ). Keep your trumpets out of it. Iwas down here last week for a couple of pints and a bite to eat. Bar man very polite and chatty. Bit of a time warp, but enjoyable. Need to do something about the flies though! 7.5/10.

The Eclipse Inn, Winchester

Prime location like the Old Vine but oh dear. Should be called the Star Wars bar with the looks of some of the customers. 3/10.

The Wykeham Arms, Winchester

Very well run pub. Interesting bric-a-brac everywhere. Friendly staff. Not in the cheap catagory for food or drink though. Still 7.5/10.

The White Horse, Hascombe

Quite right gooding. The 'landlord's name gives it away,- JOHNNY, well he certainly is one.

27 Jun 2012 20:49

The Wotton Hatch, Wotton

Beautiful location, bloody awful pub ( if you can call it that ). Would love to try it when they have a complete kitchen overhaul so they could cocentrate on the main thing in a pub, the bar.

26 Jun 2012 21:54

The Spyglass Inn, Ventnor

At least they had a I.O.W brew on, many don't. Great staff, food good and ale plentiful.Yes it does get busy,so what? I don't go to many 'good pubs' that arn't. There are plenty of other drinking outlets here,so try somewhere else. The beer is nearly always spot on in the Spyglass because of the turnover. Not every pub can entertain beer flies. 8/10.

The Greyhound, Cocking Causeway

Although i live 25 miles from the Greyhound i always stop off here when coming back from the coast. Never eaten here but it does look fantastic and at reasonable prices. Its worth the journey for the 2 pints ( or 4-5 if her indoors is driving ) of th summer lightning alone. Bar staff /service excellent. 8.5/10.

11 Jun 2012 20:36

The Victory, Hamble

Have to totally agree with Ziggles in all of his comments, apart from the rating - 9 /10.Still bloody good though, keep it up.

One thing you can always rely on here is the standard of the beer; crap. Does anyone who is employed here really care ?I see a rating of 3.3, generous.
