I feel that I have to say something
I used to love the Tup. But now I avoid it like the plague.
The tables are always sticky and dirty. The bar staff are rude and ignore you whilst chatting to their mates. And this is directed at Andy the licencee - they are probably on their best behaviour when you are around. You fail to see how surly, rude and obnoxious one lady in particular actually is.
There is often a strange smell coming from the place too.
And for crying out loud - why on earth is MTV Base or whatever it is on all the time? Are you aiming the pub at teenagers? it's distracting for the grown adults who would like a beer after work.
And because this is on ALL THE TIME there is a need to shove scabby old blankets in the windows to block out the sun.
here's a thing - turn it off!
Please get rid of that pole - it makes the place look hideous too. Oh and not sure if it's still there but what the hell is with that odd little free standing bar thing that is in there?
Back to basics. oompah night, quiz night, good ales, good food.

Venus, Colliers Wood

I tried venus again recently after many many years.
I'd avoided it for quite a while as it had suddenly gone downhill and was full of people I really didn't want to spend my evening with....

So I was pleasantly surprised to pop back in to find it heading back to it's old ways.
The food was really nice and the house red was lovely!
I have been back a few times since and will be making it my local haunt again.

No it may not be an ultrglam place - but it's a welcome relief from the table dancing rugger buggers in The Tup.
You can actually have a conversation without shouting over crap dance music or rowdyness.

Good work!

I have to agree with the last post.
This place had so much promise but it's gone downhill terribly.
The place is always filthy, instead of curtains or blinds - there is a grotty old blanket hung at the window. They have MTV playing SO loudly all night. When they staff can be bothered to serve you they treat you like crap. I will not be going in here again.

The Tooting Tram & Social, Tooting

I love this place.
It looks amazing, the service is always good. The staff are helpful, know their stuff and are able to recomend beers or wines.
They are always playing great music and it's a nice place for a sunday afternoon pint or a raucus Saturday night out.
They will be doing food soon which will make it even better.
This and The Manor are just what the area needs

The Manor Bar & Grill, Tooting

I popped in here for a drink last night not realising it had changed hands.
It looks brilliant, the service was fantastic and I had a really good night.
The music was great too. The dj was playing nice funky stuff and it wasn't too loud or in your face.
I'll definitely be back again soon for some grub
I think this is just what the area needs. Somewhere a bit grown up, playing good music, with good food.
Congrats lads!

Are you an estate agent?
Why are you so keen to 'push the old clientle out'?
So it becomes faceless and boring nad full of idiots like you?
And why do you want to make Colliers Wood the new Balham / Clapham? By that do you mean over priced and crowded? And again - full of idiots like you?

The Crown And Two Chairmen, Soho

This lovely friendly pub is being closed and turned into a gastropub. Do we really need another one in London?

A word to the management - if you are showing the football on the screens maybe try turning the sound on and the dreary house music off.
It's very disturbing to stare at a soundless game for 90 minutes.

The Royal Standard, Colliers Wood

The boyfriend and I ventured down here a few Sundays ago to watch the footie. I was pleasantly surprised. Everyone was warm and friendly. They were handing out free bar snacks and the beer was great. Have been back a few times since and it's just as great. If you want a 'proper pub' with nice food and a good atmosphere then go to the Standard.

Kiss Me Hardy, Colliers Wood

Now they've taken away the screens showing sport, this has become a much friendlier place to drink. They have a quiz on Wednesday night - and we realised we are bad bad losers! They have friendly staff and great 2 for 1 meal deals - and lovely tasty food. Maybe not the place for a Saturday night out, but certainly the place for dinner and a few to start.

This has now re-opened as The Colliers Tup and thank god for that. Went there last night and was really impressed. There are screens for sport but they are discreetly tucked away so as not to dominate the place. The garden looks amazing and this is just what Colliers Wood needs. Liked the sign outside stating 'no caps, no hoodies, no pets' and the fact that they had door staff, this will keep away the scaries that used to drink there....for a while at least! Very friendly and I wish them loads of luck!
