The Birds Nest, Deptford

Excellent ramshackle local with extraordinarily friendly bar staff and a great south London clientele, kind of feels like being in someone's front room.

Mulligans of Mayfair, Mayfair

Absolutely stunning Guinness, best to be had in London, from the eight taps on the bar. Completely worth the fact that its probably also the most expensive Guinness in London. Just a pity its not open at the weekends.

The Kings Arms, Waterloo

Blimey, whats happened to this pub? It used to be blinding, with excellent friendly bar staff, but last night the bar staff were just surly and morose, to the point of passive aggressive to some customers. They rang the bell for no more service when it was clearly 3 minutes to 11 and were unpleasantly short with customers who tried to point out that it was not yet 11. We were watching the highlights of the football on the telly and one of the bar staff just turned it off with an abrupt snarl, no "sorry lads, need to turn it off now." The landlord needs to sort his staff's attitude out.

De Hems, Soho

Shocking service last night, at least a 20 minute queue to get served with only two bar staff actually serving despite there being five staff behind the bar. When you eventually do get served they try to get away with selling short measures - three times at the bar I had to ask for pints to be topped up, and that was done with a sneer. Avoid, Quinns in Kentish Town is a far better pub for Belgian beer.

The New Bulls Head, Stratford Upon Avon

Excellent beer, probably the best selection of real ale, kept in tip top condition, in Stratford. Uley beers particularly good. Atmosphere good although the decor is a bit too Ikea.

The Dirty Duck, Stratford Upon Avon

Used to be a good pub when Pam was landlady and kept the standards up. She was a proper old style landlady who ran a proper pub. Now corporatised and bland.

The Powder Monkey, Greenwich

"New and funky"?? The Powder Monkey is an affront to everything that is decent about drinking in pubs. The Cricketers was a perfectly acceptable old man's boozer, charming in a timelessly downtrodden way. Now replaced with this load of old tosh.

The Prince Albert (Rose's), Woolwich

Absolutely top pub. The beers are always varied and in superb condition, the rolls are fantastic (half an onion in the cheese rolls!), the pub itself a hark back to how pubs used to be and should be, the regulars and service very friendly.

The Slaughtered Lamb, Clerkenwell

Ridiculously rude staff who have no idea how to run a bar or pour a pint, its almost a joke how rude they are! Poor quality badly kept Guinness, a point of which they seem to think only needs to be poured to 4/5th's full to be served up. Plenty of other decent pubs in the area where the beer is kept well and the staff know what they are doing.
