The Punch and Judy, Tonbridge

Shame that there's never any space at the bar. Gormless looking locals hog the bottom end. Sweary lager swilling builder types hog the middle and at the top end, the barstaff's ever present possie of hangers-on friends and family. Other than that, pretty decent pub.

Elephants Head, Hook Green

Surprised to see this listed in the Kent edition of the Camra beer guide book as one of their top ten destination pubs. Don't get me wrong, it's a lovely pub serving fantastic homely cooked food, but beer wise they've only got two engines serving ale, and one of those was off, leaving just the Harvey's. Boo.

The Golding Hop, Plaxtol

I've cracked it! Landlord happy = Beer poor. Landlord grumpy = Beer good.
He was quite jolly the other day...hmm.

The Pelton Arms, Greenwich

Typical. Only just discovered this pub just as I leave the area. You'd search high and low to find a pub as good as this one. The ales are amongst the finest kept I've ever encountered within the M25, fantastic atmosphere, friendly staff etc etc.
An outstanding boozer and well done to all those involved. 10/10.

The Wheatsheaf, Bough Beech

What has happened to this place? A year ago the food was sensational. Been a couple of times in the last few months and it has been dire. They're serving 'Pukka' pies for gods sake!! Not seen anything like this since the mid eighties. Beers good though.

The Ivy House, Tonbridge

Was a great little pub...However, standards are rapidly going down hill. The place is always running out of beer. High turnover of inexperienced staff, some of whom can't pull a pint to save their lives, who never notice waiting punters, and you rarely get charged same price for the same round. (The barman in there the other night was gladly handing his mates sat at the bar free pints all night.)You probably havn't seen toilets like these since those of footie stadiums circa 1978, oh and they're used to store the empty beer kegs. The owner would be better off dropping this pub and the Ivy House so he can concentrate on The Doss(Station)House, and leaving them to someone who can run a pub.
