The Hesketh Arms, Southport

Has become very popular again, and offers three real ales. I just wish they'd get Landlord back on! The drinks here are dearer than across the road at The Bold. Food is ok. Sitting outside on a summers evening getting drunk can be very nice.

Cherry Tree, Steventon

The staff, food, accommodation and appearance of the pub can not be faulted, all excellent in my opinion. However, the real ale wasn't up to scratch. I tried 4 of the Wadworth ales, the 'best' being Bishops Tipple. The others were too cold and lifeless. Would like to visit again if in the area, and hopefully try some guest ales if on. Also a good selection for the non real ale drinker, a few Dutch lagers & stowford cider.

Rashleigh Arms, Charlestown

Lovely looking pub with very nice beer garden. Good range of local ales. Didnt try any food but what I saw looked very tasty.

The Harbourside Inn, Charlestown

Very nice modern pub with a nautical feel to it. Very clean, thought the staff were good. Nice pint of Cornish Knocker too

The Britannia Inn, Par

I felt the food was overpriced, 7quid for a very small prawn 'baguette'. The Tribute ale was mediocre. Staff seemed friendly enough, although some of the customers were of the whopper variety. On the whole a clean pub, good for a stop off or if your in the area and wanna catch live sport on tv.

4 Sep 2010 19:53

Par Inn, Par

Pleasant enough little pub with very friendly staff & locals, very keen to chat. Probably the best pint of Tinners I had during recent holiday.

4 Sep 2010 19:44

Welcome Home Inn, Par Green

Great pub with nice long beer garden. Had a good pint of Black Prince from the pump & Tribute out the back during a recent charity bbq.

The Hole in the Wall, Torquay

Absolutely Fantastic!! Think they had 9 beers & a cider on last night. Some real hideaway snugs in the bar area. Had some food on the previous night too which was fine. Even the music being played through the system was good. Highly recommend

The Globe Inn, Lostwithiel

Excellent food & service, lovely beer garden & restaurant area. Although the beers didnt over impress on my visit, (Doom Bar, Stogs & a Hydes beer), this is definateley one of the nicest little pubs ive ever been too.

Stayed here recently. 6 handpumps with NO REAL ALE. Disappointing

The Horseshoe Bar, Glasgow

Had an enjoyable lunchtime here in march09, mainly due to the fact that Liverpool beat utd 4-1. 99p for a glass of wine? Fantastic. I was on the 80/, lovely stuff, and the pie n peas/beans? Need I say more. Would definately visit again when next in Glasgow

The Travellers Rest, Euxton

Ive enjoyed this pub on the 2 occasions i've visited. Decent range of ales and a good food menu. I'd ditch the radio that stands on the bar in the main eating room though.

13 Jan 2010 18:40

The Half Moon Inn, Clyst St Mary

visited last night, unable to sample any food/ale as their card machine wasn't working. 3 ales on. The bargirl told me it was their 1st night under new management; I over-heard some locals saying so far so good. Hopefully when im next in the area I'll go back. Found a nearby toby which had Tribute on, fantastic pint.

Much preferred this to the KIT. Gutted I never got to try the food or sit in the beer garden. Some excellent beer choice though, ill be back

The Royal Oak, Wigan

Excellent beer choice served by very helpful and friendly staff. Recommended!

21 Jul 2009 20:40

John Bull Chophouse, Wigan

Lively & busy when I visited. The beer was ok, but I thought the layout & character of the pub was great. A Mixed crowd and The toilets could definately do with a bit of TLC.

21 Jul 2009 20:36

Anvil, Wigan

Wide range of beers, nice outside drinking area and very busy on my recent visit. Probably the best pub we visited all day, although the only women seemed to be behind the bar. A good thing for some maybe?

21 Jul 2009 20:29

Farmers Arms, Heskin Green

Lovely pub with good value food. Usually 4 cask ales on. Highly recommended

16 Jul 2009 23:35

The Brown Cow, Eccleston

Nice pub, lots of sports shown & evening entertainment. Some good outside drinking areas to the rear. 1 Very Well kept Thwaites cask on, and also draught Warsteiner. (say no more). Worth a visit

16 Jul 2009 23:32

Original Farmers Arms, Eccleston

Good choice of ales, usually 5 on, mainly from small Northern Brewers. The pub has Regular offers on; Its 2quid for all cask ale the moment throughout july! Quality food served in both bar & restaurant, although some meals are on the pricey side. There seems to be a problem with flies in the bar area??
On the whole though, well worth a visit.

16 Jul 2009 23:26

The Bell, Bredhurst

Deceiving in size & not far from the M2 Medway services if you take the service road. A decent choice of ales, but unfortunately not well kept. (I had to change my 1st pint). I found the food ok and reasonably priced. Large beer garden with a good play area for kids. Huge car park too. I feel this pub could do so much better though.

16 Jul 2009 23:00

The Ma Boyles Oyster Bar, Liverpool

Nice little place hidden away not far from the Liverbirds & many hotels. Helpful staff, guest ale at 1.95 a pint & generous sized, well priced grub. Recommended

15 Jun 2009 21:21

The White Lion, Warlingham

Stayed over in nearby Whyteleafe and saw this pub on way to my hotel. Liked the look so decided to back for my evening meal. Glad I did! 5.99 for a curry & pint, just what a man needs after a long days work. I tried the Pride which was ok, however my 2nd pint, Elgoods Double Swan was delicious. The pub was busy and the staff were very good.

13 Jun 2009 07:59

The Dolphin Inn, Longton

Worth seeking out. Loads of ale on offer, excellent value food.

9 Jun 2009 22:48

The Ship Inn, Lathom

Called in for a scran at the weekend and was pleasantly surprised after my initial feelings. It was busy with locals and not many diners which made me a bit weary about ordering food. There was also a funny smell in the bar area? I noticed 6 real ales on though an proceeded. We sat in the restaurant part after ordering our food which was very quiet but cosy. (think its part of an old cottage)

The portions were huge & it really says something when my fiancee cleans her plate! The beer was very nice too from Moorhouses. Will be visiting again.

9 Jun 2009 22:42

The Windmill Inn, Southport

Good little pub, centrally located however you wouldn't think it. Good value food & well kept ale. Really small pool table though!!

8 Jun 2009 21:59

Champs, Sheffield

Worked here 2003-2005; last visited 2007. Always had one handpump selling Kelham Island Pale Rider. Wide range of bottled lagers & extensive spirits/liquers for all the cocktails. Extremely busy on bank holidays!

8 Jun 2009 21:55

The Salutation, Doncaster

One of the best pubs in Doncatraz

8 Jun 2009 21:45

The Hole int' Wall, Bowness on Windermere

Really enjoyed this pub. The stuffed animals are good to look at and you certainly won't get cold if sat by the roaring fires in the winter.

3 Jun 2009 20:15

Leopold Tavern, Southsea

Was busy when I visited with a mixed crowd of drinkers which appeals to me. A good choice of ales & friendly locals. I noticed a lot of racing fans sat towards the back of the pub following there bets. Good atmosphere all round.

2 Jun 2009 22:23

Taswell Arms, Southsea

Not impressed when I visited. Food was crap & the beer wasn't well kept. I think we were the 1st people in on a saturday dinner time but that's no excuse for poor quality food & drink.

2 Jun 2009 22:19

The Wine Vaults, Southsea

I visited this pub on a saturday night after watching my team play at Fratton Park. I couldn't have asked for more. Really good music & some good real ales.

2 Jun 2009 22:15

The Robin Hood Inn, Mawdesley

Some fantastic offers on food. Usually 6 real ales on; Ive never had a bad pint here. Nice beer garden and plenty of parking.

1 Jun 2009 21:13

My favourite pub in Chester. They serve the Manx beer, O'kells. Enjoyed the food too. Always visit when in Chester.

1 Jun 2009 21:09

The Bold Arms, Churchtown

Very busy all year round

1 Jun 2009 21:03

Baron's Bar, Southport

Fantastic choice of beer. Hand pulled cider on too! Love the big chair by the side entrance. I enjoyed the jukebox on my last visit during their recent beer fest.

1 Jun 2009 20:52

The Volunteer Arms, Southport

Great entertainment on when I visited. Friendly atmosphere with the walls dedicated to pop music from years gone by with murals. I had Thwaites 'Wainwright' when I visited and it was good. Bit of a star wars bar but that doesn't bother me. : )

1 Jun 2009 20:46

Sir Henry Segrave, Southport

Not the best W'spoons in the world. I'd avoid eating here. Good beer range though and good location for going on a sesh. Interesting pictures charting local history make for good reading if there's no breaking news on SSN.

1 Jun 2009 20:38

The Guest House, Southport

Amazing choice of real ales & secluded outdoor drinking area. Bar staff are quality too.

31 May 2009 22:08

Grapes, Croston

Excellent food, good choice of ales.

31 May 2009 21:58

Shrimper, Southport

Good quality value food, could do with some more real ale choice. Regularly hosts good entertainment & drinks offers.

31 May 2009 21:52

The Black Bull, Mawdesley

Outstanding beer garden; the tables are well spread out and the garden itself is in immaculate condition. Inside there is a good choice of ales and lots of cosy corners.
