Artillery Arms, Milton

For what it is, an unpretentious friendly back street local with separate lounge and public bars and a garden, serving excellent range and quality of real ale at decent prices this is a rare 10/10 pub. If you want anything fancy forget it, but if a good pint in a good city pub is what you want as I say, 10/10 100% recommended

The Cartwheel, Whitsbury

This pub changed hands in 2010 so although the pub itself is little changed, obviously the previous reviews re. service and beer and food will be out of date.
Ringwood ales, Best, Fortyniner and Old Thumper plus another two real ales I can't remember. Beer was OK. A large choice of beer for a country pub down a quiet lane, it was very quiet when we visited midweek lunchtime. Large choice of good, not over fancy, reasonably priced pub food, to suit everyone from sandwiches to full meals.

The Master Builders House Hotel, Bucklers Hard

Great location, nice old bar as part of largish busy hotel owned by Beaulieu Estate, pint of real ale was pretty good, average price for these days, didn't eat but the cod and chips looked lovely and good for 10. I go here for an ocassional pint when walking from Beaulieu just up the river, but seeing the cod makes me think next time I will try it. This place is touristy of course but the location always makes it a good place to return to especially on a nice summers day.

The Compasses Inn, Damerham

Lunctime food very good choice and quality and not too pricey, first pint of Ringwood only just acceptable second one, Flack Catcher better but not brilliant, above average prices for beer, great garden, boring lounge bar, nice locals bar, bright conservatory for eating, handy location country pub, I probably will not not go again for a while as I am fussy about my real ale but recommended for lager drinkers or anything other than real ale (I accept I may have been unlucky and report only based on one visit).

The Swan Inn, Inkpen

The beer I had here earlier this week was excellent (Butts Jester) perfectly served and friendly knowledgeable landlord. 10 out of 10 on pub itself and beer (also reasonable price beer compared to some). No comment re food as we didn't eat. Great for walkers and real ale drinkers.

The Foresters Arms, Frogham

Nice country pub good garden and dog friendly. Wadworths range of beers and heres the best bit for me, the Farmers Glory was spot on , excellent, glass filled to the brim unlike some landlords who seem to have a policy of below the brim. Friendly helpful young staff. Menu looked appetising and reasonable prices (didn't buy food though as we had picnic..), my only down mark is the beer and soft drinks prices were very high and suprisingly so given the food prices being average. Will visit again for meal next time.
